JROTC Booster Parents

Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 7pm is our last booster meeting for this school year.

We will be holding the 2017/2018 Booster Officers elections.

Maximum parent participation is HIGHLY encouraged. It is extremely difficult to hold elections and discuss at a high level the 2017/2018 Booster strategy with only a dozen parents in attendance. Please consider coming to this meeting!!!

1. Booster Officer Positions that will be elected:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Eligibility you only have to have a son/daughter in the JROTC program. So basically Current Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Cadets who will enroll next year in the program you are able to be considered a Booster Officer as well as a Booster member.

2. Three other items to briefly discuss:
a. JROTC End of Year Awards Ceremony at the NBHS, 4 May 2017
b. JROTC End of Year Swimming Party, Landa Park, 6-8pm, 19 May 2017
c. JROTC mini Marine Corps Marathon, Saturday 4 Nov 2017. This is a major fund raiser event.

3. Review any proposed changes to the By-Laws and Vote on any changes with the Booster General Body in attendance at the 5/2/17 meeting.

I hope to see you all at the meeting. It has been my pleasure to serve as your 2016/2017 Booster President this year. I would like to extend a special thank you to Sandra Garrett who has served as the Booster Secretary and has done an amazing job. Sadly since her son will be graduating HS she and her husband Joe will no longer be with the program. The past four years Sandra and Joe have served tirelessly and selflessly for our cadets and the program. I would also like to thank our VP – Joe Chetwood who was appointed by the Board and ratified by the Booster general body to serve as the VP. Joe has redesigned the Booster web site which we will be launching this month (in May). Savannah Maurer who served as our Booster Treasurer. This has been no small effort complying with Federal and State not for profit requirements, IRS filings, banking/credit union account balances and keeping track of multiple fund raising activities expenses and income generated. Thank you Booster Officers.

Lastly, I would like to thank LtCol Mark House and 1SG Felix Acosta who serves as a non-voting member to the Booster Club and Booster “Mentor” for the Program and NBISD. They have served the Booster and Cadets flawlessly, as represented by LtCol House receiving the Districts Educator of the Year Award (I hope I didn’t announce that prematurely!). Again, thank you Booster Parents and Booster Officers!. I hope to see you on 5/2/17,, 7pm.

IMPORTANT BOOSTER Meeting Announcement

We are changing the date due to availability of Officers and other factors. The meeting will be held Thursday Apr 6, 2017; 7-8pm at the MC JROTC Building.

We will be discussing and planning two key events of the year: the End of Year Party(Landa Park) and the MC JROTC Mini Marathon fund raiser.

Last item to remind parents is the May Booster meeting is when we will be holding elections for the 2017/18 school year booster officer positions - the elections will be held at the May meeting

Parents - 1 Dec Thursday evening 6-9pm Dow town is the City of NB Wassialfest. The Cadets will be signing Christmas cards at Tunnel Insurance across from Myrons Steakhouse. The Booster will be selling our Booster merchandise and we need parents to help. I am going to be working in a Boy Scout booth in the square - I will be in the area but cannot staff the JROTC site as well
