📚❤️ Need 9/11 book recommendations for your classroom or library? SAVE THIS POST!

These are some of my favorite books to pull out every year when we remember September 11th.

🚒 Fireboat tells the incredible story of the John J. Harvey and the role it played after the attacks.
🌳 This Very Tree shares the powerful story of the Survivor Tree.
📖 And the other books pictured help children learn about what happened on 9/11 and the stories of courage, hope, and resilience that followed.

BONUS: This Very Tree and Fireboat are both on Novel Effect 📚🎶✨! If you have Novel Effect, the soundscapes are 100% worth it for a classroom read-aloud. 🎧✨ They add another layer to these already powerful stories.

It turned out so cute!! Poor Walgreens has been busy with all the teachers going back to school! 😂😂 some kids at Meet The Teacher actually knew who Carmen Sandiego was. One more day of inservice and then kiddos come Monday.

Well, it’s time to check out the Netflix US version of Little House on the Prairie®! 🤍

The original TV series is iconic, and fun fact—it didn’t stick strictly to the books either.

Speaking of the books, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s daughter, Rose, had a significant influence on how they were written and edited. Laura’s real life on the prairie was far more difficult than the stories often portray.

Another fun fact: while the first Little House books were illustrated by Helen Sewell, the classic illustrations most of us recognize today were created by Garth Williams—the same illustrator behind Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little. 📚

I’ve had the privilege of visiting Laura’s home at Rocky Ridge Farm and seeing Pa’s fiddle at the museum. Learning more about her life made me appreciate her story even more.

If you’ve never read Pioneer Girl, it’s an absolute must-read for every Laura Ingalls Wilder fan!

I love a good historical fiction book! 📚🇺🇸

I just started The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz, Author, and after the first five chapters, I’m already hooked!

To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I’m challenging myself to read historical fiction from different eras of American history, including:
🇺🇸 Colonial America
⚓ Revolutionary War
🌄 Westward Expansion & the Oregon Trail
⚔️ Civil War
🤠 The American West & Gilded Age
🌍 World War I
🌎 World War II
🌸 Postwar America & the Civil Rights Movement

Next up on my list is Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd/Tasha Boyd , and I can’t wait to dive into it! You can check out my stories to see the books I’ve chosen so far—and I’d love to hear your recommendations if you have a favorite!

A little reward in the library today. Diamond art bookmarks. And of course they were dragons since that’s our school mascot! The girls loved it. I might have to incorporate this as a reward next year for our reading bingo boards
