Memorial Early College High School is hosting the final Parent Information Night on Wednesday, February 18, from 6:00–7:00 p.m.

Update 1:05 p.m. - Thank you for your patience over the past few hours as Comal ISD worked with local law enforcement officials to investigate and secure Canyon Middle School after a Lockdown was initiated at 9:10 a.m.

The Lockdown was initiated due to the report of a weapon on campus. Local law enforcement agencies responded with the New Braunfels Fire Department launching a unified command and coordinating the responders as they systematically cleared the campus.

No weapons were found, and no injuries were reported. Once all students and staff were accounted and known to be safe, the threat was determined to not be credible, and the Lockdown was lifted.
Please know that the safety and security of the students and staff at Canyon Middle School is of the utmost importance. As such, we encourage you to let your child know that violence is not something to be joked about. False threats, even made as a joke, can result in significant disciplinary measures and possibly criminal charges.

The district would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to local law enforcement agencies including the New Braunfels Fire Department, Comal County Sheriff’s Office, New Braunfels Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Comal County Constables and the San Antonio FBI office, for their work.
Additionally, a big ‘thank you’ to the Canyon Middle School staff for following safety protocols and looking out for their students. This ‘thank you’ extends to the district’s safety and security team.

Please Note: If students left personal belongings on campus, they will be able to get them on Monday.

Update 12:05 p.m. - The Lockdown at Canyon Middle School has been lifted after the ‘all clear’ was given by law enforcement officials at noon.

The reunification of parents and guardians will take place at the entrance of Canyon Middle School. Students are being provided with boxed lunches.

In order to pick up a student, parents and guardians MUST have a photo ID and be listed in Skyward as eligible to pick up the student. You will only be able to pick up your student.

After arriving on campus, follow directions from law enforcement and school administrators for an orderly reunification.
Students who are unable to be picked up will resume the school day on a regular schedule.

Update 11:13 a.m. - Students and staff are safe at Canyon Middle School. Local law enforcement officials continue to clear the building. There are no injuries. Reunification information will be available as soon as the ‘all clear’ is given.

What you need for Reunification: In order to pick up a student, parents and guardians MUST have a photo ID and be listed in Skyward as eligible to pick up the student. You will only be able to pick up your student.

Students who are unable to be picked up, will resume the school day on a regular schedule including lunch. More information will continue to be provided.

Update 10:45 a.m.- Lockdown is still active at Canyon Middle School. Local law enforcement officials continue to evaluate the scene. Students and staff are safe. There are no injuries. Reunification information will be available as soon as law enforcement gives the ‘all clear.’

Update 10:10 a.m. - Lockdown is still active on campus. Local law enforcement officials are on campus and in the building evaluating the scene. Students and staff are safe. There are no injuries. More information will continue to be provided.

Update 9:48 a.m.- At 9:10 a.m. there was a lockdown on campus. As of 9:48 a.m. the lockdown is still active at Canyon Middle School. Local law enforcement officials are on campus and in the building. Students and staff are inside their classrooms with doors locked following Lockdown procedures.
