NEW BRAUNFELS AREA PARENTS - There are 2 openings left in the small group (4 students) Reading Intensive where we will be using the EBLI program. If your kiddo has been receiving reading intervention using an OG-based approach but is not responding as expected, EBLI may be a better fit. Contact me for more info via email at [email protected]. Summer sessions begin June 8.
These students had already struggled with reading for years. Some had not made progress with previous instruction.
Then the approach changed.
The results in this study weren’t small. More fluency. Better accuracy. Stronger spelling. And growth that held over the summer.
That’s why conversations around how we teach reading matter so much.

SO PROUD of this kiddo! This student's mom shared their most recent MAP scores and WOW...this student could not have performed better, now scoring at the 93rd %. 😍
The yellow star represents the MAP scores when this student and I first started working together. This kiddo is one of the hardest workers I know, participating in specialized support at school AND working after school and during the summer on the things that are most challenging and not always so much fun.
I'm excited to share this student's results and incredibly thankful to be part of their journey. ❤️
(Scores shared with parent permission, of course)

You know summer weather has officially arrived when it is no longer safe to keep crayons inside your therapy bag in the car. RIP to my favorite triangular crayons. We had a good run. 🖍️🪦💔

Being greeted at the door of a student’s home and hearing, “Look what we got this weekend!!!” is absolutely my love language. 100% will snuggle. ❤️🐾

Homeschooling families local to New Braunfels, Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding areas - in May I'll be offering a Learning Check-In.
These are norm referenced assessments measuring phonemic awareness, orthographic processing, word attack, spelling, reading fluency, comprehension, math, vocabulary, and writing skills.
They offer a comprehensive snapshot of your child's skills and include a consultation fully explaining the assessments, answering questions, and helping to build a plan for next steps based on your child's strengths and areas for growth.

March & April Office Hours Mon/Wed 930-1030am CST
Thanks to almost 30 years of experience working with students with learning challenges (dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, dyscalculia, autism, etc), I've picked up many evidence based strategies to fill the gaps that may be holding a student back.
This month I'll be hosting Zoom Office Hours to support parents by sharing simple and effective ways to help students at home. Office Hours are participant-led. Parents submit questions or concerns and we work together to brainstorm solutions.
There is no fee or cost to participate.
If you'd like to join - send me an email and let me know what you're concerned about. I'll respond with the Zoom link. Hope to meet you soon!

It’s time for FRACTIONS!! Yaay! Much to my surprise (and the dismay of every elementary math teacher I ever had), fractions have become one of my favorite concepts to teach. There are so many fun toys to play with and art projects to complete that help build imagery and understanding of these concepts.

Texas Parents - a friendly reminder that ALL Texas schools are required by law to administer a dyslexia screener by the end of every child's Kindergarten year and by January 31st for all 1st graders. Sometimes schools have to reminded of their duty to stay in compliance with state law so check-in with your child's school to make sure the screening has been completed or is scheduled to be completed. Early identification and intervention is key. Be the squeaky wheel!

This is how you spend your kindergarten Thanksgiving break when your Great-Aunt is a learning specialist and she thinks reading is more fun than shopping. 😁📚❤️
