🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Mandy Segerstrom — “Sege” 🌟
Meet our amazing 4th grade teacher, Mandy Segerstrom, affectionately known as “Sege”! 💙 This is Mandy’s 6th year of teaching, and we are so blessed to have her as part of the St. John’s family!
👩🏫 Why St. John’s?
Mandy’s story is one of God’s perfect timing! As she was graduating, God provided an opening at St. John’s. Her own children had attended St. John’s, and she already knew it was a beautiful place. After interviewing, she was blessed with the 4th grade position—and she absolutely loves it! 🥰
🏡 Meet the Family
Mandy has an amazing hubby, Jon, and three beautiful kiddos: Esther (15), Jackson (14), and Mason (10). The Segerstrom family loves spending time together playing board games, watching cartoons and superheroes, and—most importantly—loving JESUS! ✝️❤️
🐾 The Pets
The family is also joined by Zelda, their labradoodle, and Demeter, their kitty, affectionately nicknamed “Dementor.” 🐶🐱
☕ Classroom Snack of Choice?
This one is hard to choose…but anything with CAFFEINE! 😂 Mandy loves iced coffee, Diet Pop (especially Diet Mountain Dew and the zero flavors), Alani Nu, and protein. We think she’s got the teacher fuel department covered!
📖 A Book Everyone Should Read
Mandy’s first answer: the Bible! ❤️
But she also recommends Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. She describes it as being “like a mirror for the heart” and a book that is good for “chewing on.” What a wonderful recommendation!
🍎 Best Teaching Advice
“You set the tone of your classroom.”
Mandy also believes in prioritizing students over curriculum—a beautiful reminder that relationships and the hearts of our students matter deeply.
🦸♀️ If She Could Have Any Superpower…
She’d choose flying, so she could travel anywhere she wanted, anytime! ✈️
🌎 Dream Travel Destination
New Zealand! 🇳🇿 Why? So she could visit all the Lord of the Rings filming locations, of course! 💍🧙♂️
📜 Favorite Bible Verse
Philippians 4:8:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about such things.”
Mandy, thank you for bringing your love for Jesus, your students, and your joy for teaching to St. John’s! We are so thankful God brought you here. 💙🍎✝️
We love our Sege! Help us give her a big St. John’s shout-out in the comments! 👏🎉
