12;54PM Heads up, this is for folks on the Outer Banks south of Waves, including most of Hatteras and Ocracoke Island. I had a lot of folks reach out and say they can’t contact their loved ones; a fiber line cut in Waves has resulted in little to no cell phone or internet service south of them.

If you have an emergency, please go to the nearest fire station or police station. There is no ETA for when it’ll be restored.

The weather didn’t cause this.

How many of you out there can say you dunked on Michael Jordan? This is New Bern's Joe Holt in 1981 playing against #23, the one and only Michael Jordan.

Joe recently retired after a career as an educator in the public school system, Craven County and also Jones County. I thank him for his service to our kids.
