During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to recognize the vital work of the co-response program in New Bedford, a partnership between Child & Family Services, Inc., NorthStar Learning Centers, Inc. and City of New Bedford Police Department (Official)

Thank you to our clinicians !!!

Asyla, Dolly, Erin and Jessica 🩷

Having clinicians working directly alongside officers at the police department is incredibly important. When someone is facing a mental health crisis, the response often needs more than enforcement — it needs compassion, clinical expertise, de-escalation, and connection to care. These clinicians help meet people in some of their hardest moments, assess immediate needs, provide support, and help guide individuals and families toward services that can create lasting stability.

This work matters because it helps reduce trauma, strengthens trust in the community, and reminds people that mental health crises deserve understanding and treatment, not judgment.

A heartfelt thank you to the clinicians, officers, and everyone involved in this co-response effort. Your commitment, patience, and compassion are making a real difference every single day in the lives of so many throughout New Bedford.
