Please help GLCPS extend a warm welcome to New Bedford School Resource Officer Leanne Fisher. Officer Fisher has been a familiar friendly face at the school over the years and now it’s official! She will be spending time at GLCPS every other Monday getting to know our students and staff even better and we are thrilled! She stopped by Monday to take a tour and introduce herself. Another valuable community partner helping us to ensure the best environment for students and staff!

Another group of Youth Mental Health First Aiders certified!

Congratulations to the staff from Global Learning Charter Public School on becoming certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid!

Through this training, staff gained practical tools to recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges in young people, respond with confidence, and connect youth to appropriate support.

Thank you to the Global Learning Charter team for investing in the mental health and wellbeing of their students and school community!

UMass Dartmouth staff gave the grand tour to Seniors and Juniors considering it for their next destination on their future path. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who showed us all that UMD has to offer. A highlight of the visit was running into an alumnus who now attends the university. ❤️

This is what science class looks like in 5th grade! To teach students about data collection, they are flipping bottles that have different amounts of liquid inside and collecting the data to learn which water weight works best for bottle flipping. Go ahead and try this at home but make sure the cap is on tight!

On this 25th anniversary of the attack on the United Stated when Al Qaeda terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and a fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, staff members at GLCPS have been helping students to understand the magnitude of this day in our nation’s history. The stories inspired one high school student, Jeziel, to create a meme in which he shares his thoughts about that day. Jeziel, thank you for putting your feelings and thoughts into words to share with our community. #9/11

It was an honor to be recognized tonight among the Best Places to Work alongside 29 other organizations and businesses. Thanks to Cape and Plymouth Marketing for celebrating the work place. These companies provide our students with excellent options when they are ready to pursue careers. Congratulations to all the honorees!

For the 2nd time this week, a GLCPS alumnus is in the news! This article by Brooke Kushwaha in The New Bedford Light captures the determination of volunteers, including Harrison Létourneau, to clean the Acushnet River and restore the health of the herring population! This article is worth the read as it highlights the collaboration of volunteers from across the area to restore the herring runs and connects our community’s past, present and future. Kudos to Harrison for joining the effort!
