Our staff are always up to something …. Amazing! Over the weekend, art teacher Amy Schusser, Science teacher Polly Zajac and Technology Director Derek Stevens as well as Sheila Stevens, GLCPS volunteer extraordinaire, participated in the Parade of Tall Ships in Boston aboard the schooner Ernestina. Mr. Stevens and Ms. Zajac are on the SEMA (Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey Association) Board. Photos are courtesy of Ms. Zajac.

If you were in downtown New Bedford between 11 and 2, you might have seen some of our students and Principal Pires volunteering at the 10th annual Global Goals Treasure Hunt. Don’t you love seeing GLCPS students supporting our community?
Our own Emma Kochanek is enjoying her time with her fellow classmates at the National History Academy in the DC area. Erin is there on a full scholarship. She and her friends made their own video during their visit to Mount Vernon!
Once again this summer, New Bedford invites families to take advantage of its lunch and dinner programs, even on rainy days.

Something very special happened in Minnesota this week. The Bridgewater-Raynham Grizzlies unified flag football team competed in the US Special Olympics and won gold!!! The coach and assistant coach are GLCPS physics and high school math teacher Jon Dyer and his wife, Kate Waskiel Dyer, respectively. Their two adult children are athletes who play for the Grizzlies. The Dyers and many if not all the team members also coach and play on the Special Olympics basketball team which scrimmaged with the GLCPS basketball team during the school year. We are extremely happy for the entire team. Congratulations, Grizzlies!

This is it. The last day of the school year is always bittersweet but made sweeter with ice cream from the Cool Licks Ice Cream Truck, music, games and dancing. Let’s have a great summer!
Watch out world, here come our high schoolers! Congratulations to all these students now headed to high school! Shout out to the GLCPS 8th grade team!
