Dr. Malika Grayson, a true trailer blazer in the field of engineering!
Raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Malika Grayson ( ) is a STEM speaker, author, and engineer who has her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University where she became the 2nd black woman in Cornellâs history (and 1st Black American) to receive her PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
As an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Alumna Scholar, Dr. Grayson has been the recipient of many awards including the Zellman Warhaft Commitment to Diversity Award, National Society of Black Engineers â Mike Shin Award for Distinguished Member of the Year, Adelphi Universityâs Top 10 Alumni Under 10 and BEYA STEMâs Modern Day Technology Leader.
Since her PhD, Malika has been working in the defense industry as a systems engineer and most recently, an applications portfolio manager. Malika is a STEM advocate and is passionate about increasing the number of minority women who pursue advanced degrees. Her passion can be seen through her blog where she reviews personal statements and scholarship essays free of charge. She has reviewed over 130 essays and has mentored a number of women through the essay writing process. Through her company Steminist Empowered LLC, she has shared her journey as a black woman in STEM on a number of platforms and collaborates frequently with universities to speak on topics including Impostor Syndrome, Activating Your Network, and Mentor/Sponsor Relationships. Malika is also a 40 Under 40 Youth Influencer in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago for her work in STEM.
Her graduate school experiences are further highlighted in her new book âHOODED: A Black Girlâs Guide to the PhDâ.

Attorneys Alves and Santos are the founding law partners at Alves|Santos, LLP - a law firm specializing in employment discrimination, personal injury, domestic relations, tenant/landlord disputes and real estate transactions - with offices located in Brockton and New Bedford, Massachusetts. In just 3 years, they have serviced thousands of clients.
Both of Cape Verdean descent, Attorneys Alves and Santos met while attending . They eventually joined forces in 2017 because they both had the same goal - to give back to their communities! Dr. Chanel Prince is a native of Holly Springs, North Carolina and graduated from Middle Creek High School. Dr. Prince earned a bachelorâs degree in Chemistry from North Carolina State University, a Masterâs degree in Medical Science from Mississippi College and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Prince is currently an associate dentist at Lane and Associates Family Dentistry in Durham and Erwin, NC. As a dentist, Dr. Prince prides herself on her comprehensive approach to oral health. Her vision of total dental health is based on the foundations of building trusting relationships with her patients, the belief that patient education is crucial to comprehensive care, and encouraging patient involvement in treatment planning.
Dr. Prince is married to her amazing husband and high-school sweetheart Asia and together they have two little boys, Solomon and Noah. She loves trying new foods and exploring new restaurants with her husband and enjoys spending time with her family. Her house is semi-divided as Dr. Prince is an avid Wolfpack fan, but her husband canât make up his mind between the Wolfpack or the Tarheels.

As a family physician, Dr. Walker cares for patients of different ages (including adults and children) and those from all walks of life. She enjoys engaging her patients in their health care by building a safe environment of trust, knowledge and shared decision-making. She connects with her patients by providing high-quality health care with the overall goal of yielding meaningful improvement in their well-being so that they may enjoy their families and other aspects of their lives. Dr. Walker has a special interest in preventive health, the care of the elderly, primary care office-based procedures and global health.
Originally from Freeport, Long Island, Dr. Walker attended college at Binghamton University, SUNY in Binghamton, New York and subsequently earned her M.D. at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. She completed her residency in Family Medicine in June 2017 at Virginia Commonwealth University - Riverside Family Medicine Residency in Newport News, Virginia.
Currently, Dr. Walker lives in the Rochester area with her husband, Christopher. She enjoys spending time with Chris, her parents and her sister. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and home-chef who enjoys cooking traditional Jamaican meals and trying new recipes and restaurants from various cultures.

Katherine V. Charles is a Black Woman Making an Impact - we celebrate you as a trailblazer in the field of Law!
Attorney Charles is a first-generation Haitian-American attorney. She is a graduate of The City College of New York in Harlem, NY and New England Law Boston in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Charles has dedicated her life to activism and mentorship since her college days through her involvement in the Black Students Union, Habitat for Humanity, a womenâs empowerment nonprofit organization, and founder of Hope for Haiti Relief Project. Transitioning from pre-medicine to social science, Katherine majored in Black Studies, minored in Psychology, and had a concentration in Political Science.
With an extensive history of community engagement and mentorship, Ms. Charles carried her passion and leadership skills to law school where she served as the President of the Black Law Students Association. Furthermore, she served as a law school mentor to incoming students and student orientation leader. Katherine was recognized for her work in both New York and Boston metropolitan regions in law school as the recipient of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Associationâs Honorable Reginald Lindsay Public Service Award and her law schoolâs Dean Timothy J. Cronin, Jr. Memorial Award.
Continuing her dedication to public service, Ms. Charles commenced her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, serving as an ADA in two offices for approximately 3.5 years. Throughout her duration as a prosecutor and after, she served as a co-instructor and mentor to youth in her hometown through a program dedicated to building relationships between law enforcement and the community.
Currently, Ms. Charles works for a civil defense litigation firm in New York City and is an active member with several legal based organizations. She continues mentoring youth in Rockland County, New York and New York City."
