✨ FLASHBACK FRIDAY — “ROMEO & JULIET” ✨

Today, we’re flashing back to our 1980s-set, neo-noir-inspired spring production of “Romeo & Juliet,” where Shakespeare’s tragedy took a decidedly darker, more haunting turn. 🎭

In this scene, Romeo (Aleksander Saken) encounters the Apothecaries (Riley Malone & Alice Zusman), reimagined as ghostly twins who haunt the world of the play and help drive its tragedy forward. Their eerie presence drew inspiration from the Grady twins in “The Shining,” the ominous Soothsayer in “Julius Caesar,” and the Janare of Italian folklore — supernatural figures associated with haunting and tormenting the living.

Equal parts eerie, unsettling, and gleefully theatrical, these two brought an unforgettable presence to the world of Verona. Our students were absolutely stupendous in these roles! Bravo to all involved!👏🌟

🚀 Meet the Crew of the Starship Albatross & the Newscasters! 🌌

The starship Albatross relies on its dedicated crew members to ensure safe and hazard-free interplanetary travel. Responsible for both guest relations and the maintenance of all ship systems, this hardworking team is essential to keeping the vessel running smoothly. Meanwhile, our Newscasters serve as the narrators of the story, reporting live on the Albatross’s extraordinary and often unpredictable mission.

But when the Albatross crash-lands on the mysterious planet D’Illyria, the question remains—will the crew be able to repair the ship and find their way home? Fortunately, the Newscasters are here to keep you informed every step of the way!

As the steadfast First Officer and the skilled Navigational Officer aboard the starship Albatross, Bosun and the Navigational Officer are among Captain Tempest’s most trusted crew members. But when the Albatross crash-lands on the mysterious planet D’Illyria, their leadership, ingenuity, and resolve are put to the ultimate test. Can they help guide their crew through the dangers ahead, repair the ship, and find a way back home?

A loyal and good-hearted member of the starship Albatross, Cookie often finds himself overlooked by the rest of the crew, with only his best friend, First Officer Bosun, truly appreciating his worth. When the Albatross crash-lands on the mysterious planet D’Illyria, Cookie is instantly smitten with Miranda—but winning her heart may prove to be more challenging than surviving a distant world. On what begins as a routine scientific survey, Captain Tempest and the crew of the starship Albatross find themselves shipwrecked on the mysterious planet D’Illyria. To save his stranded crew, Tempest must place his trust in the enigmatic Dr. Prospero—but can the brilliant scientist truly be trusted? Along the way, Tempest also discovers that he may be falling for Prospero’s daughter, Miranda. Will he find a way home, or a love that’s written in the stars?

🎭✨ The NAHS Theatre Department is thrilled to announce the cast and crew of our upcoming summer production, “Return to the Forbidden Planet!” 🚀

Congratulations to these incredibly talented rising eighth graders through recent graduates, who will bring this out-of-this-world adventure to life in just two short weeks!

Inspired by Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” and classic 1950s science fiction, “Return to the Forbidden Planet” follows the crew of a futuristic spaceship stranded on a mysterious planet where romance, adventure, unexpected danger, and plenty of laughs await. Featuring an electrifying rock-and-roll soundtrack packed with hits from the 1950s and 1960s, this fast-paced, campy musical leans into its hilarious parody of Shakespeare and classic science fiction and for a wildly fun night at the theatre!

🇺🇸🎭 Happy Fourth of July! 🎭🇺🇸

The NAHS Thespians had a wonderful time participating in today’s annual Independence Day Parade and celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday with the community we are so proud to call home.

We also enjoyed advertising our upcoming summer production, the sci-fi rock musical Return to the Forbidden Planet, performing July 31–August 2 at the McCoy Center for the Arts! 🚀🎸

A heartfelt thank-you to the City of New Albany for another fantastic holiday celebration and for bringing our community together on such a memorable day.
