As principal of Green Valley Elementary from 1956 to 1984, Ted Mossler was known for his steady presence, his deep commitment to reading, and his remarkable ability to know the children in his school.

From summer reading pep rallies to daily classroom visits, Mr. Mossler helped create a school experience that many former students and teachers still remember with great affection.

This week, we’re revisiting a Legacy Ledger spotlight on Jamey Aebersold, a New Albany native whose impact on jazz reaches around the world.

A 1957 NAHS graduate, Jamey created the Jazz Play-A-Long series to help musicians learn improvisation. What started as a simple idea has reached players in nearly every country.

His influence in jazz education is unmatched, but what matters most to him is helping others. From free concerts to decades of workshops, Jamey has spent his life sharing his love of music and encouraging others to do the same.

Take a few minutes to read more about his incredible story.

This week, we’re revisiting a Legacy Ledger spotlight on Doug Elmore, a true cornerstone of Floyd Central.

What started with 22 orchestra students in 1986 has grown into a program of nearly 450 and one of the best in the state, with multiple ISSMA titles and decades of state finals appearances.

But the real impact is with the students. Doug has spent his career helping them grow as musicians and as people.

Take a few minutes to read more about his story.

Before “IT” was even a common term, David and Tammie Neel were already figuring it out as they went.

We’re revisiting this July 2023 Alumni Spotlight featuring two Floyd Central grads who built a career right alongside the rise of personal computers, the internet, and now cybersecurity. From helping businesses understand early tech to running their own company for more than two decades, their story shows what it looks like to grow with an industry that never stands still.

If you’ve ever wondered how we got from those first PCs to where we are today, this one is worth the read.

Every once in a while, a story comes along that starts with a simple message… and turns into something pretty incredible.

We’re taking it back to July 2023 to revisit the story of Terry Phillips (NAHS ’56). From running the WNAS transmitter as a student to working alongside pioneers in satellite mapping and even presenting to Wernher von Braun, his journey is one you don’t expect… but won’t forget.

If you enjoy stories that connect New Albany roots to big moments in history, this is a good one to check out.

If you were part of the program in any way, they would love to hear your story as they prepare for this special 60th celebration in 2027!

🎭 Calling All Floyd Central Theatre Alumni, Staff, and Supporters! 🎭

Next fall (September 2027), Floyd Central Theatre Arts is celebrating 60 incredible years of storytelling, creativity, and community, and we want you to be part of it!

Our college-credit theatre class, offered through Ivy Tech, is creating an original script inspired by the history of our program using primary sources and “eyewitness” interviews. Think of it like a documentary, but turned into a stage play! These interviews will be used by the theatre classes over the next year to eventually become a celebration performance!

If you have ever been part of Floyd Central Theatre as a student, volunteer, parent, staff, or audience member, we would love to hear your story! Your memories will help our students preserve and celebrate the legacy of this program for the next generation.

👉 Fill out this short google form to share your connection and be contacted for an interview: https://forms.gle/DrsNp3CPVxnQjtpG9
