Scribner Middle School
On September 7, 1960, Nathaniel Scribner Junior High School opened its doors to approximately 1200 students in grades 7, 8, and 9.
The building was dedicated on October 23, 1960. In selecting a name for the school, the School Board chose to honor Nathaniel Scribner, one of the founders of New Albany and the person responsible for starting New Albany’s public schools. During the fall of 2002, ninth grade students began attending school at New Albany High School and our building officially became Nathaniel Scribner Middle Schoo

🚗 First Week of School: Arrival & Dismissal Reminder 🚌
As we kick off a new school year, we ask for your patience during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. We have many students on a transfer this year, and as a result, the car rider line will take a little longer than usual during the first week. Please plan ahead and allow yourself extra time. Doors will open at 8:35.
The safety of our students is our top priority. Please use the designated car rider line (Old Vincennes Rd) for both drop-off and pick-up. Dropping students off down the street, across the street, or in the front parking lot creates dangerous situations and puts children at risk of serious injury.
By planning ahead and following our established arrival and dismissal procedures, you help keep every Panther safe.
🚌 Bus Riders: Please make sure your child knows their bus number before the first day of school. Knowing where to go at dismissal will help ensure a smooth and successful start to the year.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to keeping our students safe. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for an amazing school year! ❤️🖤🐾

Thanks so much to MAC Construction for supporting approximately 100- 120 seventh and eighth grade students at Scribner Middle School. The binders provided, along with other donations from members of our community, will help to get these kids off to a positive start to their school year. Not only will we be working on academics with these individuals, we will also be teaching them lifelong skills, such as time management, organization, focus, commitment, and other needed skills to help them transition to high school. Our ultimate goal is for all of our students to be successful members of our community.
