NAFCS students, staff kick off 2026-27 school year NEW ALBANY — Hazelwood Middle School came alive again on Tuesday as students at New Albany-Floyd County Schools headed back to classes for the 2026-27 school year.

We had a great first day of school! It was absolutely wonderful to see our halls filled with smiling faces, laughter, and lots of high fives today!

Parents - we have one small ask, please help your child memorize their bus and slot number. As students exited the bus this morning they were given a card with both the bus number and slot number on it, teachers asked students throughout the day if they knew their bus information, we spent all 7th period asking students if they knew their bus information and then we still had several dozen kiddos not know their bus number at dismissal. This can be stressful on our students when we only have a few minutes at dismissal so anything that you can do at home to ensure your student knows their transportation would be greatly appreciated.

Now let’s get those students to bed and get ready for day 2!
