Mermaid sensory salt🧜‍♀️✨ Details⬇️⬇️⬇️

I made this salt in 2022…and could still get it out this afternoon to use tomorrow 👏✨🫶 I’m more than happy with cheap resources that last a loooong time.

But how to make it??

Salt (I used 3kg- but you really only need one or two).

A tiny amount of food colouring (mix blue and green before adding) - you can always add more. Mix and mix and mix. And mix.

You can air dry it. But I’ve found colour comes off on hands too much if I do it that way (although I prefer kids use paint brushes or sticks when using it anyway). I dry the salt on trays in the oven. 150 degrees Celsius, 5 mins at a time, then stir, and continue until dry. It’s a bit time consuming, but it lasts YEARS, so it’s worth it.

Make sure it is COMPLETELY cold before storing in an airtight container. You can re-dry it if it gets damp (but you really don’t want to have to do that again, do you?😬😆).

I added @theglittertribe bioglitter and a bit of @younglivingaunz peace and calming oil (oil before drying, glitter after drying). I like the different sizes of the glitter bits from this glitter, which is why it’s often our choice. Note these steps are completely optional as the salt is fine on its own.

I shouldn’t need to say this, but I’ve received a lot of criticism in the past: don’t use salt with little ones who still mouth items. The things I share here are for 3yrs+ (at a caregiver’s discretion). Never ever replace the views of someone on social media for your own views. Do your own careful research, and as my wise sister would say: if there is a question, then there is no question- it’s a no.

2022, 2023 & 2024 classes loved this and I’m so excited for my current class to walk in tomorrow! They are particularly vocal with their praise or censure.

Would you give it a go??
