Community Helpers in Mrs. McClain’s class!

NAES’ first field trip of the year. Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade excel class visited the UCHM, Brain Freeze and UCLibrary.

✏️ The Museum Guild and Rotary Club sponsored the poetry workshop and guest speaker Sarah Frances Hardy, illustrator of the book: One Mississippi. Students were able to get a sneak peek into Ms. Hardy’s creative process when illustrating and writing books. Mrs. Linda Everett, former excel teacher, taught students how to write a Japanese form of poetry called Haikus. Students will enter their own writing for the literary festival this September!

🍦 Big shoutout to Brain Freeze for cooling us off after our walk across town today. The ice cream and air were simply perfect!

📚 Mrs. Sissy and our library staff ordered new “country” books for students to check out. Students in excel this year will select a country to research and display at the end of the year expo! Thank you UCLibrary for helping us get the ball rolling!
