Purdue Polytechnic presents annual Pumpkin Chunkin' competition
NEW ALBANY — After weeks of preparation, the teams were ready for launch. One by one, they loaded pumpkins into trebuchets, catapulting them into the air.

Pumpkin Chunking is BACK for 2025 at Purdue Polytechnic New Albany! The event will be held on Tuesday, October 14th from 4 to 7 p.m. You can find more information here: https://polytechnic.purdue.edu/events/new-albany-pumpkin-chunking

You’ll witness high school and adult teams launch pumpkins 75 to 100 yards away. Teams build a trebuchet (think very large catapult) using gravity (falling weights) as their only source of power to successfully launch their pumpkin at the designated target.
