Alpha focuses on building a strong foundation for the concepts of single-digit addition and subtraction. ➕➖

Stephanie passed the Level 5 posttest in the Barton Reading & Spelling System and is moving on to Level 6! 🎉

In Level 5, she strengthened her reading and spelling by learning prefixes, suffixes, and base words, helping her decode and understand more complex vocabulary. She also mastered important spelling rules and units like -tion and -sion.

We are thrilled to welcome Ann Schultz, M.A.Ed., to the KLS family! Ms. Schultz has a passion for helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, and experience the joy of learning.

Jacob has made fantastic progress mastering advanced silent-e patterns and complex spelling rules. He now confidently reads and spells multisyllabic words with endings like -tion, -sion, -ture, -able, and - ible, showing incredible growth in both confidence and independence! 📚

Connor has completed Level 3 of the Barton Reading & Spelling System! This level strengthens reading and spelling skills with more challenging one-syllable words, blends, and sight words. Connor also learned key spelling rules and began reading short stories. 📚

Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) is a multisensory handwriting program for Pre-K through about 5th grade that teaches students how to form letters, numbers, and eventually cursive in a simple, developmentally appropriate way. 📝

The goal is to make handwriting easy, legible, and automatic, so students can focus on writing ideas rather than struggling with letter formation.

Greyson has successfully completed Level 2 of the Barton Reading & Spelling System! 📚

In this level, Greyson learned all the letters of the alphabet and key digraphs like sh, th, ch, ck, and wh. He practiced blending sounds to read consonant-vowel-consonant words, worked with short vowel sounds, and used strategies like finger spelling to strengthen spelling and phoneme segmentation.

Level 9 prepares students to confidently read and spell advanced vocabulary adopted from French, Italian, Spanish, and other languages, the kind of words found in literature, science, and social studies textbooks.
