Friday will mark Superintendent Dr. Travis Madison’s final day with New Albany Floyd County Schools as he begins a new chapter in higher education leadership.

During his time at NAFCS, Dr. Madison has been a passionate advocate for students and a dedicated leader who has cared deeply about our schools, our staff and the families we serve. He leaves behind a school community that is stronger because of his leadership and a lasting impact on the students and educators he has had the privilege to serve.

As Dr. Madison shared in his message to families, “Without question, my time at NAFCS has been the ‘icing on the cake’ of an already blessed and fulfilling career. Serving as your Superintendent has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity.”

It's ! Mrs. Julia Hott teaches Trigonometry, AP Calculus, Advanced Math, and Finite at Floyd Central High School.

Mrs. Hott loves teaching because she simply loves her students. She enjoys seeing them each day, inspiring them to believe in themselves and know they can do hard things, watching their growth throughout the year, and getting to know the amazing people they are becoming.

It's ! Ms. Holly Braden teaches K-4 Special Education at Mount Tabor Elementary School.

Ms. Braden has such a BIG heart for her students. She meets each student where they are academically, socially, and emotionally, bringing love, patience, and passion to her classroom every day. She takes the time to truly know each of her students and understand their unique strengths, skills, and needs.

We’re celebrating some exciting gains in our 2026 IREAD results!

📈 Third Grade: 91% of NAFCS third graders passed IREAD this year — up from 88.6% in 2025

📈 Second Grade: 63% of NAFCS second graders passed IREAD this year — up from 56% in 2025

Superintendent Dr. Travis Madison says this growth is a reflection of the hard work happening across our schools:

“We are incredibly proud of the growth our kids continue to show. We also appreciate all of the hard work from our students, the continued dedication from our educators, and the incredible support from our families. It takes all of these folks doing their part to continue ensuring our kids meet these goals and benchmarks. We will continue to work and strategize to achieve our goals, but we are pleased with where we are headed!”

We’re proud of our students, grateful for our educators, and thankful for the families who support our students every step of the way. This is growth worth celebrating!
