Humanity's sinful nature causes us to be prideful and selfish, turning our focus inward rather than outward to the needs of others. Unfortunately, this mindset puts up barriers, hindering our ability to share the Gospel. It is hard for humans to change from their sinful ways, but we look to Christ, the ultimate example of humility, who gave up His life for the sins of the world.

God made us for relationships; it is one of the first blessings He provides for Adam in the garden. After God created Adam, He said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” This is the first time God calls something in His Creation “not good.” This means that marriage and family are good. The gift of others in our lives is inherently good.

Because of sin in the world, this togetherness sometimes results in caregiving, in upholding someone’s life because of sickness or disease. Yet, despite our brokenness, God still works good. It is good for us to be with other people, caring for them and receiving care from them.

Caregivers for those with Alzheimer’s are often family members or spouses. This act of care is certainly a labor of love; caregivers devote a lot of time and work. They also bear the emotional toll of watching their loved one suffer and decline. But God gives strength to the weak and weary. The Lord says in Isaiah 41:10, “I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God upholds all those who labor to help others. Sickness, pain, and death will not overcome His merciful provision of body and soul. He daily provides all of our bodily needs and feeds us with His Word and His body and blood which gives strength to the weak. And He provides others to uphold the lives of caregivers, working mercy through them to give respite to those in need.

Available as either digital downloads or physical kits, Y4Life Kits are designed for youth leaders to use as they address life issues from a Gospel-motivated perspective. Each kit includes basic information about the topic in relation to life issues as well as facts and talking points that encourage honest, thought-provoking discussion with youth. St. Jerome was an early Church father who dedicated his life to translating and studying various Christian texts. Before his death in 419 AD, he spent many years completing his most noteworthy scholastic endeavor: the translation of the Bible into Latin. This translation, typically referred to as the Vulgate, became the standard Bible for the Church until the Protestant Reformation. The world is a dark place, full of sin, sadness, and hurt, which can be scary. However, Christ is the light of the world and the Lord of LIFE (John 8:12). He has overcome darkness, sin, death, and the devil. As Christians, we live with this comfort, knowing that we have nothing to be afraid of.
