Update: Community High School Alumni, we have some very sad news. Jay let us know that his wife, Jan, passed away this morning. Many of you will remember her as Ms. Jan Dellinger. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that anyone wishing to honor her memory consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Memorial donations can be made in her legal name, Janet N. Atkins of Union Valley, TX. Please keep her husband and their family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

On behalf of Jay Atkins, we want to share a difficult update with his classmates, friends, and Jan’s students. Jan Dellinger Atkins is close to passing peacefully at home. She suffered a stroke on Saturday and has been battling advanced dementia. Jay placed her on hospice care last week, and she could pass at any time. After 41 years together, Jay is losing his best friend and the love of his life. Please keep Jay and Jan in your prayers during this incredibly heartbreaking time.🙏

We had over 100 ex-students at the reunion Friday night. Thanks to all who participated in telling of the history of CHS. It went a little longer than expected and some had to leave early, but I hope you enjoyed seeing old friends as much as I did. Again, thanks for the memories and may God bless you and your families until we have the Homecoming reunion next year. Thanks to Cooper and Mekala Welch, Dr. Tonya Knowlton, EMS Principal Carl Frietze and other EMS staff for providing space, refreshments and their time to make the reunion a success. I still bleed Blue and Gold. Go Braves.

In this Dave Campbell's Texas Football story, the Community Braves are listed among the "most surprising 3-0 teams in Texas!" According to the article, most fans across the state were sleeping on CHS... but now they're waking up!

The most surprising 3-0 teams in Texas high school football include the Alice Coyotes, Katy Taylor Mustangs, Flower Mound Jaguars, and Redwater Dragons.

It’s beginning to look a lot like HOCO at CHS!!!

It’s that time of year when everyday has a theme, the excitement begins to build, we prepare to celebrate our students and alumni!

This year, our theme for Homecoming Week is “A Brave New World!” This gives a nod to our new journey as a 5A district!

Each day bring a new opportunity to experience a new world and show school spirit! From outer space to Braves Stadium, we are excited to embark on our HOCO journey! Get your costumes ready, plan your outfits now, and be prepared to show up and shout out all week long!

We appreciate our elementary and middle schools for supporting our students through their participation in these dress up days! We can’t wait to see all the spirit from our littlest Braves to our Alumni!

Let’s make HOCO 2026 the BEST One Yet!!!

FINAL CALL to join the Community High School class reunion at Edge Middle School on Sept, 18, 2026 from 5-7 PM. Park in the North parking lot and come in the back door to the cafeteria. We will share a brief history of CHS beginning with the 1947-48 school year. This is a rare occasion to meet with classmates and teachers to share an evening of nostalgia, laughter and rediscovery. Dress is casual. The homecoming football game vs. Azle follows at 7: 30 PM. We are a class 5A school now with over 6,000 students. We would love to see you there.
