Is 1st trimester massage safe? Inquiring minds want to know… yes and not always. 🤰
Most spas say a flat “no” to first-trimester bodywork. But the truth is more nuanced: there are pregnancy conditions that alter how we approach massage—but there are almost always modifications that can accommodate.
The real question is not if you can safely work with early pregnancy clients, but how to screen them properly so you are legally and clinically protected.
A thorough intake process—including a medical release form that allows doctors to specify special positioning restrictions or other precautions—is essential.
I just published a deep-dive guide breaking down:
✅ Why the industry bans first-trimester care (and why it is often overly cautious)
✅ The real facts behind miscarriage myths (zero evidence links routine massage to early pregnancy loss)
✅ The essential forms every prenatal specialist needs to protect their practice
📌 Want to see exactly what those forms look like?
I have a free Prenatal Intake Forms & Video Tutorial available for bodyworkers. Grab your copy through the link in my bio!
Absolutely no strings attached besides exchanging your email address for the forms - which signs you up for our newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time and we do not share your email with anyone)

The labor induction session is a specialty which I love to teach. In this photo, my students are learning this effective session which prepares the expecting client for birth both mentally and physically. Some of the acupressure points are for ripening/softening the cervix, others for encouraging baby to drop down deeper into the pelvis, several for increasing and strengthening uterine contractions. There is so much support offered in these sessions! We start with a meditation calling in baby and welcoming them to the world. What a honor to hold space for the sacred earth-entry! Welcome to beautiful planet earth baby!
