A walk close to home around the charming Deer Creek Tribute Trail. What a gift of place, right in the middle of the city.
1,2,3) A man who loved his dog, Fezziwig, sooooo much, that he made several of these tribute altars and placed them around town. Such love 💕
4,5) Deer Creek, from two angles, high above in the tree tops
6-10) The suspension bridge flanked by forest altars.
11) Is it a tree or a drainage pipe? Both?
12) On the way out.

Pretty walk in my pretty neighborhood.
1&2) Ditches from the gold mining days snake through the whole county. Along them, resourceful residents have built public trails and nature has adapted.
3) Roots on the edge, searching for water
4) Furry friends
5) Curvy show off
6) Mossy culvert
7) Friendly tree - a home for all life
8) Vast expanse
9&10) Crunch fairy dream home

Suffering doesn’t come from experience itself,
but from the tone with which the heart receives it.
Awareness can meet difficulty with resistance,
or with patience and care.
The path begins by noticing the difference.

Real love isn’t dependent on ease or favorable conditions.
It’s the steadiness of the heart that can remain present when life shifts, plans unravel, or uncertainty appears.
Loving awareness offers strength without hardness and care without collapse.

“In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be...This is the inter-related structure of reality.”

Loving awareness doesn’t remove confusion or difficulty.
It changes how they’re held.
With kindness at the center of attention, experience can move through without overwhelming the heart or narrowing the mind.
