“Hamilton” & “Pride and Prejudice” 😀‼️

Crowder College Theatre students have been busy this week! We believe that the best learning is rooted in practical application. Several of our students have been selected for crew positions on two touring productions.

Congrats to the graduates and current students who are making industry connections and building resumes!

Proud to have work by Ian Bassett, this month’s cover photo Ceramics Monthly in the Artaxis Invitational at Crowder College.

The November 2022 issue is here! In this issue, we feature several artists that discovered they wanted to make clay central to their career after starting out in another field. On the cover, we have Ian Bassett’s moon jar, stoneware, slip, wood fired. To read more, click here: https://bit.ly/3ErJZhe.

Meet Kwok-Pong (Bobby) Tso, one of the artists being displayed at the Artaxis Invitational exhibit in the Longwell Museum. You'll have the opportunity to meet him and ask questions during a panel later today from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm in Elsie Plaster Auditorium.

Kwok-Pong, born and raised in Hong Kong, moved to the US to continue his education and explore the cultural differences between his home country and the United States. In 2009 he completed his BFA at Northwest Missouri State University and in 2013 earned his MA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Named as Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist in 2014, NCECA Emerging Artist in 2016, and awarded a summer residency at the Archie Bray Foundation, he has exhibited and published nationally and internationally. Kwok-Pong is currently an Assistant Professor at Washburn University Topeka, KS.

Kwok Pong’s current works investigate the status as an immigrant in the United States through travel, documentation and re-creation of objects. From the path of Asian immigrants, he hopes to address the contemporary concern of ownership in cultural influence and enlighten the curiosity that is deep within, both for his viewer and himself, and allow them to experience what migrants had to endure, while answering their own sense of belonging.
