Building Skills One Bead at a Time!

Gio Diaz and James DeWitt, both of McDonald County High School and CTEC Welding II, are putting their skills to work while practicing the GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) process on aluminum using filler wire.

Students are currently working on overlapping beads in the flat position, building the control, precision, and consistency needed for quality welds. Next, they’ll advance to welding at least three different types of weld joints in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.

Hands-on practice like this gives our students the opportunity to develop real-world welding skills and prepare for success in the workforce.

**From Crowder student to law enforcement professional!**

Last week, our Criminal Justice students welcomed Officer Carter Graue with the Anderson Police Department to learn more about his experience working with the Drug Task Force.

As a former graduate of the Crowder College Criminal Justice program, Officer Graue was able to share firsthand how his education helped lead him into a career in law enforcement and specialized drug investigations.

Students learned about current drug trends, surveillance, evidence collection, drug investigations, and some of the real-world challenges officers face in the field.

One of our goals at CTEC is to connect students with professionals who can show them where their training can lead. Having a former Crowder student return to share his journey made that message even more meaningful.

A big thank you to Officer Graue and the Anderson Police Department for investing in our students and their future careers!
