1st year NEWCaps Business students visited two local restaurants/food service businesses today. Starting at Eastside Social we discussed the story of how they started and how they are currently dealing with an economy with increasing food prices and the challenges they have. Discussed how restaurants work towards their profit margin and how decisions must be made in terms of vendors and overhead costs. Thanks Charlotte Ward for all the information and also the tips for young students to become young professionals.

Ous second visit was around the corner to Downtown Nutrition visiting with Tearesa Preacher (owner/operator). She discussed how small business market their products and also the business model of MLM (Multi Level marketing). She also discussed her product line and the importance of technology and willingness to evolve.

It was a great day for students to experience the following
- Patient Triage
- Stop the Bleed
- Sterile Dressing and Sutures
- CPR
- Medical Jeopardy
- Sensory Volleyball

Thank you Stuart Puckett and First Community Bank for hosting our first year NEWcaps business students.

Students were informed about possible careers in banking, how banks support entrepreneurs and how they invest in our community.

We are grateful for everything 1st community does for our community and our schools.

Thank you Dr. Reagan for spending the afternoon with our NEWcaps Healthcare students.

Students learned more about anatomy and what a career in dentistry would look like.

They were also exposed to some amazing technology making dentistry a much less painful process for patients.

Thank you Dr. Reagan for investing in our program through this site visit and allowing our students to job shadow. We appreciate all you do for us and our community!!

NEWcaps Healthcare students had the opportunity to visit the new Joplin Crowder College campus!!

Crowder has many options for our students. Specifically we toured the surgical tech program and learned more about the CRNA program.

The entire campus is beautiful and we appreciate the partnership we have with them.

Thank you C-V Glass for hosting our first year NEWcaps business students..

Kim spoke to the group about the idea of owning all the decisions you make and that the decisions are for you. In other words working as a business owner you get to experience the joy and tears but every decision is about you. Learning a business and product line and turning a profit can be done with proper planning and the best customer service you can provide.

Students also got to experience cutting glass and how chips are repaired understanding that process is very important. We also discussed how business owners view retirement and how important that planning is.

The theme was turning passions into business. Jeff and Cathleen shared their entrepreneurial stories of following what they love and making it their career. Stressing hard work and resilience.
“Overcoming sustainable failures” is key to being an entrepreneur. Learning g economics and marketing yourself is key.
