On Friday, our high school students took advantage of the beautiful summer weather by enjoying lunch at the park. It was a great opportunity to step outside, soak up some sunshine, relax with friends, and enjoy a little fresh air in the middle of the day.

A special thank you to Thunder Lanes for their continued support of our students and for generously donating gift certificates for our Neoga Spirit Winners. We appreciate their partnership and support of NES!
Their names will be shared in our monthly Board of Education report as we celebrate their positive contributions to Neoga Elementary.
Our Neoga Spirit initiative is part of our schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program and helps us recognize the behaviors and character we want to see throughout our school.

🏗️ NEOGA JR./SR. HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

What a difference ONE WEEK can make!

We continue to see significant progress at Neoga Jr./Sr. High School, and this past week was an especially productive one. The photos in our latest construction update show just how quickly the building is beginning to take shape.

Over the course of just one week:

🔴 19 new HVAC units were set on the High School wing.

🔴 More than 40 bar joists were set across the Junior High wing and Ag Shops.

🔴 Roof decking was installed over the Junior High wing—an area where the progress from Friday to Wednesday is especially noticeable.

🔴 The roof was completed over the Art Room and Ag Classroom.

🔴 The foundation was poured for the new riser room, which will serve the building's new fire sprinkler system.

The progress happening throughout the building is exciting to see. From the new roof structure and HVAC systems to the work taking place in our classrooms, Ag areas, and building infrastructure, we are reaching major milestones in the restoration of Neoga Jr./Sr. High School.

There is still a great deal of work ahead, but week by week, our school is coming back together.

We appreciate the continued patience and support of our students, staff, families, and entire Neoga community as this work continues.

We can't wait to bring our students home! ❤️🖤

🚧 Friday Morning Traffic & Parking Notice 🚧

Neoga families, please be aware that there will be additional construction activity around Neoga Elementary School this Friday morning during student drop-off.

We are scheduled to receive a major shipment of more than 40 bar joists for the Jr./Sr. High School at approximately 7:00 a.m. The delivery will involve two semi-trucks, which will need access to a portion of the NES parking lot while the materials are unloaded and staged.

Please use extra caution when dropping students off Friday morning and DO NOT PARK in the YELLOW area shown on the map below. This area needs to remain completely open for the semi-trucks and delivery operations. The RED area will be used to stage the bar joists.

This delivery is another major step forward in the Jr./Sr. High School reconstruction project and helps keep us on target for our August 2027 return to the building!

We appreciate everyone's patience, cooperation, and extra attention to safety Friday morning.

A lot of progress has been made at both the Jr./Sr. High School and Elementary buildings since our last update!

At the Jr./Sr. High School, a new kitchen has taken shape, and new rooftop HVAC units have been added to the north side of the building, serving the High School portion. Meanwhile, the south side is being prepared for a new roof. A shipment of over 40 bar joists is scheduled to arrive Friday morning for the south side. This is a major materials shipment that will help ensure we get all of the Jr./Sr. High building roof completed before winter. Construction is also addressing necessary building code updates, such as a fire sprinkler system, stage, and ADA accessibility.

At the Elementary School, the Main Entrance has been restored, while the restrooms and locker rooms have received significant updates.

We’re excited to see these improvements taking shape and appreciate everyone’s patience and support as these projects move forward.

Join us for Neoga Elementary School’s Picnic at the Park! 🍉🌳

📅 Friday, September 4, 2026
🕚 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
📍 Jennings Park

Families are invited to bring lunch and enjoy time with their children and the Neoga Elementary School community.

NES students will order their regular school lunch through the normal school lunch process. Families may also bring food from home.

Adult family members and children who are not enrolled at Neoga Elementary School may preorder a guest meal:

Adult meal: $5.00
Non-enrolled child meal: $4.50

Guest meal orders must be placed with Lisa Fearday by Friday, August 28. Call 217-775-6049 or email [email protected] to place an order.

Lunch service will begin when students arrive at approximately 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten will go through the line first, followed by the remaining grade levels as the line allows.

Parents and guardians listed in TeacherEase may check their children out from the park. An emergency contact may take a student home only after a parent or guardian calls the school office to provide permission. Please check your child out with the appropriate staff member before leaving.

If it rains, we will attempt to continue the event under the pavilion. The event may be postponed or canceled if storms, lightning, or other unsafe weather conditions are expected.

We look forward to seeing our NES families at the park!

Open House is Almost Here!

We are excited to welcome students and families back for the 2026–2027 school year during our Neoga CUSD #3 Open House!

Join us on Wednesday, August 12, from 5:00–6:00 PM to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and kick off another great year together. Whether you’re starting kindergarten or entering your senior year, we look forward to seeing you and helping everyone get ready for a successful school year.

We can’t wait to welcome our students back and begin another year of learning, growth, and school pride.

Traffic Update – Tuesday, July 28

If you need to visit Neoga Elementary School on Tuesday, July 28, please be aware that 7th Street in front of the high school will be closed while work continues on the new sewer line.

Access to the elementary school will remain available by driving through the high school parking lot to bypass the road closure.

⚠️ Please drive slowly and use extra caution, as traffic patterns will be different than usual.

Exciting progress continues at the Jr./Sr. High since our last update in April! One of the most noticeable improvements is the installation of a brand-new metal roof deck, insulation and rubber membrane on the north portion of the building, marking another major milestone in the project.

As construction progressed, crews also uncovered a significant issue beneath the school: the sewer line had completely deteriorated and required full replacement. While this unexpected repair added to the scope of the work,it did not impact the timeline and addressing it now will help ensure the building remains safe and reliable for years to come.

The Elementary School has also seen tremendous progress! Updated restrooms in the Commons area and the K–1 wings are nearing completion. New doors have been installed at the temporary main entrance that served students and visitors throughout the past school year, and work is well underway to rebuild the school's true main entrance.

It's exciting to see the progress as the buildings continue to be transformed. The district appreciates the community’s continued patience and support as these improvements move forward. We look forward to sharing even more progress and milestones!
