Kevin Bitney was diagnosed with Guillaine-Barre Syndrome this past Friday April 10th. His symptoms began the Friday prior with swelling & tingling in his feet. By Monday he could not walk. After a few days at Faith in Norfolk he was transferred to UNMC where he is in Clarkson Tower ICU room 8808. He is now paralyzed from the neck down & is on a ventilator. He is alert & cognitively intact. He can communicate with us by shaking his head yes/no & is starting to use other communication strategies from speech therapy. He enjoys hearing from folks via text 402 929 0817 or call & can have visitors. We read him any texts he gets and any of us are happy to coordinate a call with him as he appreciates hearing friendly voices of encouragement even though he can’t talk right now. He’s got a long road ahead of him but he is fighting hard & we believe he can recover. Prayers are much appreciated!!🙏🏻❤️
