I wanted to take a minute and acknowledge Team 4827 team mentor- Cory Richards. Thank you for the countless hours you put into this team. You are not only building a successful robotics team but you are inspiring students to become successful leaders outside the robotics shop. Thank you Cory! When Mialie tells her story to future generations and upcoming leaders, you will always be a part of it.

Mialie Arbelius (Team 4827 captain)received an Excellence in Education award and scholarship and chose Cory Richards as her mentor and most influential educator to attend the awards banquet with her.
Cory has been her high school robotics mentor for 4 years. Mialie said: "He has had a huge impact on my high school experience by introducing me to engineering and by making me feel that I can be successful in such fields. He has always been supportive and encouraging to me.โ€ Mialie will be pursuing a degree in Electrical engineering at the University of Michigan in the fall.

Minerbotics had a very successful trip to Central Michigan University for our First of Michigan competition, Overall the team was 7 and 5 during competition play. Minerbotics was awarded the gracious professionalism award for working together on and off the field and exemplifying the following principles: Fairness, humility, positivity and respect. The award reads as follows:

Other teams โ€œstruck goldโ€ at the โ€œprospectโ€ of having this team here. They โ€œdug deepโ€ and found the drive when other teams needed them. They โ€œminedโ€ for solutions and to help. They โ€œrock!โ€

Congratulations Minerbotics, in our opinion there is no higher honor than this.

Go Miners!

A reminder that Season Kickoff is tomorrow (Jan. 6) at noon. You can watch the live stream of the event on https://www.twitch.tv/firstinspires.

We'll also have a brief meeting afterwards starting at 1:45pm in the robotics room. The meeting is to make sure we know the basics of the game. This will give us all some time before our Wednesday meeting to think about it and come prepared with ideas for how we should go about playing it.

If you're unable to make it to the meeting and also unable to watch the live stream, FIRST will add the reveal to their YouTube channel afterwards so you can watch it there. Either way, please come to the Wednesday (Jan. 10) meeting prepared to give your ideas on how we can be successful at playing this game.
