Lake Effect Jiu Jitsu

Lake Effect Jiu Jitsu We are a Jiu-Jitsu gym based out of Negaunee, MI. We welcome all to come and train with us! We offer a kids programs for ages 4-6 and 7-13 years old.

We have classes Monday through Saturday. See schedule for class times. True Lake effect snowstorms only happen in a few locations in the US. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms such as ours really exist because of our location. We are pretty unique and certainly special. Whether your a seasoned vet or just starting on your BJJ journey, you are sure to find a special place with us as.

The results from the weekend 8/8-8/9 • 2026 BoochaMania 2 and the IBJJF Chicago Summer Open

Chance Bridgers earned himself a Second place spot on the podium in his White Belt Division Sunday in his first ever IBJJF competition 🥈 Congratulations Chance! Great job this weekend!

Nick Lauer lost two matches in his Black Belt Gi Division

Rich Papkey lost his first match in his Purple Belt Gi Division

Bill Rajaniemi competed in the Co-main event at Boochamania Saturday and lost via heal hook to the Head Coach and Owner of Keweenaw Jiu-Jitsu

There are lessons to be learned from this weekend, for sure. However we are thankful to the Competitors who bested us this weekend and give us and opportunity to learn and grow from our mistakes! And for the love and support from our families, teammates and this awesome community!

We are on the road this weekend Amigos!

Sweet Billy Whispers is heading north up to the Keweenaw to compete as the co-main event at Saturday!

Myself, Rich and Chance along with Coach Connor are heading south to Chicago to compete at the IBJJF Chicago Open Saturday and Sunday

We can use all the love and well wishes you all can spare!

If you're interested you can go watch Bill's match live and in person at Boochamania 2 up in Dollar Bay, MI! And our matches should be streamed on YouTube under the search IBJJF Chicago Summer Open.
