This week WI recognizes Adult Crossing Guard Appreciation Week!

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to those incredible crossing guards who ensure our students get to school safely... Tori, Tara, & Jessica at Spring Road Elementary, Jackie at Gegan Elementary, and Jeff at Maplewood Middle Schools.

Their dedication through all weather conditions along with their care and concern for our youth's safety appreciated by school staff, parents, the FCPD and the entire community! Be sure to give them a wave if you pass by during school arrivals and dismissal times! 👋

This week I am feeling all the emotions. Friday will be my last last day of school with kids.
The Spring Road staff has been incredible! They started a 10 day count down and each day I pop a balloon to reveal something special that they have planned. I have had lunch, breakfast, popsicles with the principal, pretzels and frosting (one of my favorite sweet & salty snacks), a minion day, a coffee break and 15 classroom created books about what I should do when I retire. Today I was instructed to stand outside the gym doors with a basket. We had our last all school PBIS assembly and as the students walked into the gym they dropped a paper heart into my basket. I brought them home and dumped them out on my floor to read them. Through tears and laughter I read over 275 personal messages. To say my ❤️is overflowing is an understatement. I have the most amazing staff and students. I am forever grateful that I have been a Rockin Roadrunner for 31 years and a member of the NJSD school system for 34. Best. Career. Ever!!!❤️❤️❤️

Today we welcomed our Spring Road Roadrunners back home to celebrate their graduation from high school. Thank you for sharing a part of your special day with us. Congratulations Neenah Rockets 2024. We are proud of all of you! 🚀

Do you want to take a 20 minute break in your day and just be a kid again? We would LOVE to have you join us at recess! You would NOT be in charge of supervision. Throwback Thursday - Education in the Fast Lane. This is Spring Road School in the early 1990's, before massive changes to Hwy 41 in the mid 90's. Homes were taken down to the west, the wall was put up on the east side and much more. Entrances and parking were changed for Spring Road to accommodate the changes to State Road II and the highway ramps. Finally, 30 years later, Interstate 41 will undergo similar construction from north Appleton to Green Bay.

We have noticed so many positive benefits of having adults PLAYING WITH our students at recess. More students are actively engaged in games, no one feels left out, students learn how to work through frustrations faster and there is so much laughter! While we love playing with our students, our staff needs the break at recess to prep, make parent contacts, touch base with other staff members, eat, and of course... use the bathroom. We are wondering if you would ever like to come play with us. I have created a Sign-Up Genius for people to volunteer 20-25 minutes to join us for recess. I will create a new Sign Up Genius every 2 weeks.
