"Wall of Jody"* by Rachel & Ethan

"What do you do with ALL your art that you're creating?!" Creating an interchangeable display packed full of all the creations!

Rachel and her son Ethan have been coming to the studio for many years. Independently and now together. Their shared interest in art is just wonderful!

Shown here are their shared displays, ever-growing as they continue to attend monthly classes.

__________
*"Wall of Jody": The phrase "Wall of Jody" was coined because of a student's (Jody's) inspirational example of art covered walls.

Many more friends of the studio have built walls and homes just like this. Please email me your "Wall of Jody" to be featured here. Let's inspire others.

3rd & Last Set:
These Rusted Lock paintings were a great challenge with incredible results.

The students really had to and were able to experiment with new textures:

Creating the illusion of the rusty lock was a first for all. The success made everyone want to create more images of rusty items. It will definitely be a subject matter next season!

Most of the students benefited from using salt! It created a pitted texture for the rotting, aged wood that couldn't be achieved as successfully any other way. Salt was also a tool used for some rusted metal.

Plastic wrap and masking fluid were used by some to create the peeling, chipping paint surfaces.

By the end, every student deemed this painting a huge success in regards to both learning and final, incredible artwork. Yay! It was a great way to end the season.
________

We are sliding into the Summer watercolor season very soon. Summer is meant for fun; so that's the main goal with the classes. All the paintings we are working on this summer will be low-key, super pretty, simple-fun, just good paintings. Heart happy, smile inducing art!

Round 1 of these stunning creations. There are going to be so many; I want you to fully appreciate every single one of them.
__________

Every May the Experienced get to create an extremely hard, challenging painting. It sends them off to the Summer feeling accomplished. And absolutely needing a break. Many regulars don't attend the summer sessions, so I want them to be happy to get a break.

This is a great example of why we don't always work from my watercolor paintings as inspiration. I ... just like everyone... have a style.

As preparation for the summer classes, and creating a kit for non-attendees, I attempted to paint the beautiful lilac painting. My goal was to recreate the inspirational piece pretty close to the original. Lol. Big joke! Not so much.

Take a look-sie at my 1) initial "loose" style reproduction 2) completely tightened up, detailed continuation 3) straight-up side-by-side comparison

Get ready for June's class to be a wonderful adventure of creating!

Look at all this yummy produce!

This painting was so much fun to create. The illustrative style is little easier because the black line work defines everything. The watercolor is added, second, kind of like a coloring book.

They all look very similar, but there are enough differences to enjoy scrolling thru all of them. Look for some changes in the featured veggies. Watch for color handing; some are bright & intense.

The Intermediate classes got to create these just at the perfect time of the year. The advanced students were absolutely jealous that they got to create such a whimsical, fun painting.

A wonderful end to the season; the Beginners started their watercolor journey with this sunset glowing field.

They were able to work with watercolor flow management. Start learning process steps for a successful watercolor. And, this is their beginning of creating finelines ... something that is super popular and often needed in art.

Enjoy all the pretty! These are going to make you want to catch a good sunset.
