Congratulations to our Youth BJJ students on a job well done at testing today! We awarded stripes, belts, and most importantly…knowledge.
We invite all of our students to participate in test day, even if they’re not quite ready for their next rank, to give them the opportunity to see their progress and learn.
As Coach .ellenbecker shared today— it’s not the belt that is most important, but the wisdom, reps, and skill it took to earn it. 🥋

Big congratulations to our kids who earned a stripe or belt at last week’s test! 🎉
Stripe testing isn’t just about showing techniques…it’s about effort, consistency, courage, and the willingness to keep trying even when something feels hard. Every stripe represents growth we can see, and growth that happens quietly along the way.
As we move through the rest of the holiday season, we’re shifting into one of our favorite phases of the Youth BJJ curriculum— “fun” weeks! High-energy, skill-building classes that lean into movement, creativity, confidence, and having fun on the mats. This is a time for kids to explore, sharpen fundamentals, and enjoy training without pressure as we build toward the next stripe/belt testing cycle.
We’re so proud of this group and excited for what’s ahead. Keep showing up, keep playing, keep learning—and keep being great teammates. 💙🥋

🔥 Huge Congratulations to Our Competitors! 🔥
This weekend, Aly, Trinity, Ava, and Ricky stepped onto the mats at Grappling Industries and represented Team Vaghi, Team Vaghi Northern Region, and Fortitude with grit, heart, and pride.
🥇 Aly and Trinity dominated — taking GOLD in both Gi and No-Gi!
They trained hard, stayed focused, and showed incredible skill and composure. We are so proud of their performance and leadership.
💪 Ava and Ricky battled through some tough matches and came away with huge growth and valuable experience.
Stepping out there takes courage, and they represented our team with honor from start to finish.

Congratulations to a few of our Fortitude BJJ community members who leveled up over the weekend!
Tracey and Tamrah both earned their first stripe on their white belts! Their dedication and consistency showed up in their training over the weekend and we are so excited to celebrate them on their first step towards blue belt!
Michael just surpassed 52 continuous weeks of training and what a better way to celebrate than to earn his 4th stripe over the weekend! We are so excited to cheer him on as he now preps for his blue belt at the end of the year!
Joel also had a momentous achievement this weekend as he earned his purple belt at the seminar! Since his initial road of recovery after his ACL injury, he's been working towards this goal, including earning 1st place in his IBJJF tournament division a few weeks ago.
We also want to shout out our Team Vaghi black belt, Bill Krieg, for earning his 3rd-degree blackbelt over the weekend as well. His involvement has uplifted and enhanced our team in so many ways! Thank you for all you've done for our Fortitude team and Team Vaghi!

Congratulations to Troy and Joel for an incredible tournament in Wisconsin Dells over the weekend!
It was Troy's first BJJ tournament as a blue belt, and he won 1st place in his division! He's always looking for ways to challenge his skills and grow, and his dedication really showed in his matches!
It was also Joel's first tournament back after he tore his ACL a little more than 2 years ago. He's been consistently working towards this goal for a long time and we are super excited for his 2nd place finish!

Congratulations to our team member, Kirby, for taking 3rd at the North American Masters last month!
He is an inspiration to our team - no matter what life throws at him he prioritizes his personal growth and his continuous training. He is an incredible support to the Fortitude Jiu Jitsu team as he encourages the rest of us to keep moving forward and training in order to be the best Jiu Jitsu practitioners we can be!
