Another fabulous day of learning, making art, and running into friends! Today’s seminars included keynote speaker Liz Flores and classes on integrating social emotional learning into art, developing visual journals, cultivating calmness in the classroom via mindfulness practices, finding connections between science and art, experimenting with new art mediums, and learning how to pull off the “perfect museum heist”. Only one more day of learning before we get to share our newfound knowledge with our classes.

A successful first day at NAEA! SMCMS and SMCHS art teachers Mrs. Barron and Ms. Sirstins attended various seminars and classes to learn more ways to incorporate new strategies and curriculum into their classrooms. Seminars included keynote speaker Bisa Butler and classes on photography, upcycling, and digital art. There were many opportunities to collaborate with other teachers from the country over a slice of deep dish pizza and a jar of Nutella. Check back tomorrow to see what else we learn!
