SB 2929 went into effect last season. The Texas Association of Sports Officials organization has worked hard to advocate and protect us as officials in many ways. Using good judgement and proactive officiating, we hope that this will not be needed. The Texas Way has helped promote good sportsmanship on and off the court, field, and around the high school sports world. Working together with game administration and coaches, we hope to have a positive environment for our student-athletes.

Texas Senate Bill 2929 is a law passed by the 89th Texas Legislature and signed by Governor Greg Abbott. Taking effect last school year, it grants game/match referees and officials the authority to immediately eject disruptive or inappropriate spectators from UIL-sanctioned school athletic events without first issuing a verbal warning.

🏐School Penalties: Under reinforcement guidelines by groups like the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO), if a school district accumulates three spectator misconduct incidents requiring intervention, the school risks losing its ability to host home officials
