As some of you know, our local gem of a preschool, Grace Christian Nursery School (GCNS), has moved to a new Needham location and relaunched as Wonder Garden - a fitting name for this nature-based preschool.

Some of us parents offered to plan a reunion/fundraiser event (grown-ups only). Join us to celebrate!

We are excited to begin a new adventure!
We are now The Wonder Garden Preschool located on the Charles River Center Campus. Follow along with us Wonder Garden PreK as we start the school year.

Playground discoveries! Children found acorns sprouting on the hill and in the mulch. It is so interesting to see that after acorns split open they sit on their side to grow! We hope to grow 3 new trees on the hill.

Nature provides the best curriculum. Children noticed a bee on the playground today. They wondered why it kept flying around the yellow slide and bright blue playhouse-did it think they were flowers? They wondered what to do if a bee landed on them-no one wants to get stung. Then someone wondered how to spell bee. We sounded it out together and then this friend ran off, collected letter rocks and spelled bee for us. Meaningful learning is powerful.

Nature provides the best curriculum! Children wondered what the bumps on the bush were. We were able to find all of the stages of a leaf’s development on one bush and show them how leaves grow.

Spring surprises in the outdoor classroom. A beautiful butterfly came to play this morning. A cardinal kept us company at circle time and a groundhog scampered under the shed at story time. How lucky are we!

Look for the learning. Who visited this space? Someone playing with mud. Someone looking at things in a new way. And someone who left a gift-a colorful alphabet.

Meaningful number play. We are using our house numbers to discuss one, two and three digit numbers. Here a student used rocks to represent each number, counted the rocks, and discovered that her house numbers add up to 7!
