tl;dr: PInT is seeking alumni mentors! If you're an alum, we'd love some help with sharing this post to reach other alumni.

PInT is a student-led team at Olin that focuses on learning and practicing public interest technology skills on projects with tangible impact. We are funded by a grant from the Public Interest Technology University Network, and have existed for just over a year. Our goal is to empower each other to create the changes we want to see in the world.

This semester, we are looking for alumni with experiences outside the Olin Bubble™ who would be interested in engaging with PInT! Some possible ways to participate are: contributing to a design review, teaching a skillshare, mentoring a team, speaking on a panel about public interest tech engagement after Olin, or sharing a project that PInT could work on in the future. We are also open to new ideas :)

Please fill out this form if you are interested, and we'll get back to you if there is a match:

This March, three PInT students (Shreya Chowdhary '22, Sam Daitzman '22, and Emma Pan '21) presented at the Public Interest Tech University Network Informatics Education Conference. We presented about how, through maximizing student autonomy and leadership, PInT has empowered all of us to authentically identify as public interest technologists, with the capacity to imagine and realize a more equitable vision for the future.

We're super excited to share the (slightly edited) audio of our presentation, the transcript, and our slides. Thank you to all of our faculty and team members who helped us develop the presentation--especially our wonderful advisors, Professor Erhardt Graeff and Professor Steve Matsumoto.

In case you missed it, here's a recording of last week's Design No Harm presentation. Our team shared stories about how we made the decision to not do a project and then had a group discussion about our power and responsibility as engineers to say ‘no’ when we could cause more harm than good.
