Music Lesson Central Private lessons for all ages! Wind/Percussion, Piano, Drumset, Guitar, Music Theory Individual and groups classes are available.

Music Lesson Central is dedicated to providing quality, individually tailored instruction to all ages and levels of the public interested in learning to perform and read music. Private lessons are available for:

Percussion, Drum Set, All Brasswinds and Woodwinds, Beginning Piano, Music Theory. If you play an Instrument want to learn to read music the Music Theory category would be very helpful. M

ost private or group instruction will be held at First United Methodist Church at 701 Calder, Beaumont, Texas except in special cases to be considered. I will consider traveling to your students home... for instance to review drum set assembly, Beginning Piano or Guitar students etc. All ages and levels of performance are welcome. I have a 25 year public school teaching background as a band director which gives me experience to address all band instrument instruction. I will help any age beginner learn to play and read piano music. To all self-taught guitarist I can provide and tailored strategy to help you build what you know about chords and melodies but teaching you that basics of reading music, understanding chord construction etc. I have performed with the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Dr. Jimmy Simmons Big Band, The Night and Day Orchestra, The Charlie Pruitt Country Review and with local country and rock & roll bands, including but not limited to Mid-Life Crisis Band, Eazy the Band, Jerryatricks, The Darrell Stutes Quartet and many others.

Since Covid I haven't really been involved with private lessons.
Now that things seem a bit more settled, I'm accepting new students. if you live in South or Mid-county I will come to your home or the place of your choice. (Within Reason) South Beaumont or West End we can work out.

Now that U.I.L Competition is finished and solo and ensemble is history for this year (at the regional level) some band students might want to polish up on interesting projects.
For beginners, auditions for band camp or similar activities will be more enjoyable and you will learn the way to place in the highest level of ensemble with guidance from MLC.

In the next 6 weeks band programs all over the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas will be starting there beginning band programs... Testing students to make sure they find the correct instruments, some we'll start orientation programs, students will receive their class assignments from their school, parents will be searching for instruments for their students and it can seem somewhat overwhelming to both the student and the parent.
I would like to reach out to all parents and students beginning their musical instructions to use this site as a resource for any questions you might have, as well as individual help in this critical stage of musical development. I would love to help in any way I can, instrument purchase, questions about what's the best way to proceed, working with your instruction program and band director to comply and set up a workable schedule that ensures your students instruction will be optimized. One of the things about class instruction is the fact that there is one teacher and several students in each class and a limited amount of minutes to reach all of them and identify any issues and correct them at the beginning. As a band director for 25 years I especially pride myself in being a good beginning instructor... Emphasizing the fundamentals and being a supportive influence on my students. 30 days in to 2018 and I have to wish all my friends and students a new year full of health and happiness. I have openings for this spring semester for wind instruments, brass instruments, percussion, drum set and beginning piano. If there's anybody that wants to learn the basics of reading music, even if you still play by ear, give me a call or message me and I would be glad to set you up with individualized instruction to meet all of your needs.
It really does not matter which instrument you play... The language of music is global and learning to read music raises IQ!

Students looking for help with solo and ensemble or concert contest music, audition material or any desire to improve... Contact me and I will help you succeed in reaching your goals. I'm very flexible on scheduling and teach some students in their homes if that works for them. Especially drum set.
