Such a fulfilling day! Look how awesome and diverse everyone’s flowers turned out to be. I love seeing all the new and returning faces at the studio. Watching everyone mingle, and learn, and surprise themselves with their finished pieces is so satisfying! Sharon is an amazing teacher! Current work in progress! So much has unfolded and evolved in the year since I made the brave decision to quit my job and go 100% in on my art career. It hasn’t always been easy or comfortable or clear if and how we were going to be able to pay the bills and take care of our needs. What has been humbling is the way everything has felt orchestrated. The people we’ve met, the relationships we’ve built, the opportunities that have found their way to us. In December of last year we serendipitously came upon an opportunity to open a studio. I would use it to teach lessons and my husband would use it to lean 100% into his photography/media career. We’ve been pouring our time and attention into that effort and stars just keep aligning! This whole journey has taught me that you are the author of your own life. If there is a pain in your heart from an unrealized dream that you think isn’t possible, challenge the story you’ve been telling yourself. Believe first that there can be another way. Everything starts in your mind. If you don’t allow yourself to believe in even the possibility, you won’t be able to perceive solutions. Believe first that the power and possibilities are within you, take a step forward, and watch how the universe unfolds for you. God is on your side. You’re not wrong or bad to be wishing for something different. Those desires are planted in your heart for you to respond to. Those desires are calling you to come claim the beautiful life and opportunities that are already prepared for you. Your job is to choose them! Don’t keep ignoring the call.

I’m so proud of these students! Some come in with no experience at all and some come in already hanging their work in galleries. All of them come ready to work hard, level up, and witness what they’re capable of. It’s the most rewarding thing about teaching!

Our Ribbon Vase Workshop is taking place next weekend!

This is an example of what the vase will look like before you pick your glaze color and before it’s fired in the kiln.

Create a sculptural Ribbon Vase in this one-day pottery workshop. Hand-build a flowing, multi-functional ceramic piece—perfect for flowers, brushes, pencils, or utensils. No experience needed. You shape it, choose a glaze color, and we’ll fire it for you.

This functional pottery class begins with foundational wheel throwing and hand-building techniques (pinch, slab, and coil) and then transitions into guided independent projects, with glazing days included so students can fully complete their work from clay to finished fired pieces.

Junko Hampton is an award-winning ceramic artist, educator, and the owner of in Navarre, Florida. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art from Kyoto University of Art and Design and further refined her ceramics practice in Japan while studying pottery under Mr. Ohara at Chura Umi Gama Studio in Okinawa. Junko creates both functional and decorative ceramic work, teaches pottery classes for children and adults, offers kilnshare services, and provides kintsugi repair. Known for her deep technical training, calm teaching style, and attention to traditional craftsmanship, she brings a strong foundation in Japanese ceramic arts into an accessible, hands-on learning environment for students of all levels.

Meet our Pottery Instructor Mercedes Autumn!


Mercedes Autumn is an artist and ceramicist whose practice centers on slow, intentional making and the belief that creativity is a lifelong, communal discipline.

She holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Florida and has taught and managed ceramics programs in New York’s Capital Region before founding Full Circle Gallery in Fort Walton Beach, which served the Gulf Coast arts community for nearly a decade.

Now working from a home-based studio, her regenerative, family-rooted practice emphasizes everyday ritual, presence, and connection.

Her work appears in regional galleries and shops, and her workshops invite participants into a thoughtful, grounded relationship with clay, creativity, and community.
