URGENT STUDENT SAFETY NOTICE: Bear Sighting Reported in Navajo, NM

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We have been informed of bear activity in the Navajo area and are taking proactive measures to ensure student safety.

A significant concern involves students who walk to and from school. Parents and guardians are encouraged to:

Arrange carpools or supervised walking groups whenever possible.
Ensure students walking with others rather than alone.
Report wildlife sightings near student routes immediately to school administration and local authorities.

Our local emergency responders are in the area to support.

Dear Students and Families,

We are excited to announce the opportunity for 5th- and 6th-grade girls to join our Navajo Elementary Volleyball Program!

Volleyball is a fun and active sport that helps students develop teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, and confidence while learning new skills. Whether your child is new to volleyball or has played before, we welcome all interested students to participate.

Throughout the season, students will learn the fundamentals of volleyball, including:
• Serving
• Passing
• Setting
• Hitting
• Teamwork and game strategies

Our goal is to provide a positive and encouraging environment where every student can grow, improve, and have fun.

Spots are limited, and practice will begin Monday, August 17, 2026, from 3:00-4:45 P.M.! Before your child can practice, they will need to have a sports physical on file and must meet the eligibility requirements (e.g., grades, good attendance, and excellent behavior in each class).

Students interested in participating should have a parent/guardian attend the scheduled parent meeting (see information below) and get ready for an awesome season.

Parent-Meeting Information
• Who: Parents of elementary students interested in volleyball
• Location: School Gym
• Dates: Monday, August 10, 2026
• Time: 5:00 P.M.

If you have any questions, please contact Coach Thompson at [email protected], via Class Dojo, or at (505) 721-3516.

We look forward to a great season!

Sincerely,
Coach Hilary Thompson
