Wishing all of our NDC Alumni a Happy and Safe First Day of School!!
The Board of Education voted last night to make Sept. 2 the first day of school for students. This will allow teachers & staff to have a few extra days of professional development at the beginning of the year to learn about all the changes in our protocols and prepare for the different ways they will be teaching this year.
You can view the updated school year calendar on our website: https://www.naugatuck.k12.ct.us/apps/pages/2020-21calendar
Sept. 2-4 will be a half-day for students, with teachers doing professional development in the afternoon. This means students will be dismissed at the earlier times according to the first-month schedule, but they won't have the online portion of their learning in the afternoon. (The kids might have a few assignments to do at home, but their teachers will be busy doing their own learning at that time.)
Sept. 8-Oct. 2 will be early dismissal for students learning in-person with online learning from home in the afternoon. Students who opted into distance learning will have a full day of distance learning.
A few of the half-days later in the year were removed to make up for the dates at the beginning of the year.

Good Morning Everyone,
I wanted to take this time to shine the spotlight on one of our teachers, Ms. Lorna. Today she is officially retired!! Ms. Lorna, after dedicating 21 years of teaching here at Naugatuck Day Care, we are sad to see you leave but so happy for you to start a new chapter in your life. We will miss your morning carpet dances and how you read your favorite stories "The Wide Mouth Frog" and "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear" to name your top two! No one will every rock "the days of the week" visors like you did, especially your Friday Crown! Thank you for your dedication and the love you have shared over the years that have help make Naugatuck Day Care what it is today! Happy Retirement!
With the parks being closed in town here is a fun way to keep your children active!
Starting this Thursday March 19th We will be offering FREE online Beginners Classes in a "Follow Along" format on our FB page at Prospect Martial Arts. You don’t even have to be a student! Just join in on the fun!
Wear comfortable clothes and move the coffee table so you have room to move.
If you can cast the video to a big screen, even better.
Training Schedule is on the image included in this post.
No experience necessary, this is to help keep our kids active and healthy during this isolation. You will even be able to go back and replay the class during the day to keep the kiddos busy!!
As a community we will do what we can and get through this together! See you on the virtual mat!

Re: COVID-19 Closure of Borough Parks, Playground, and Armory
Borough of Naugatuck
Effective immediately all Borough parks and playgrounds will be closed. This will also include the Naugatuck Armory with its associated events and activities. This recent action is a result of the Northeast Governors From New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut collective measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 (https://portal.ct.gov/governor). These closures will remain in effect until further notice. We ask the public to comply with these announcements as they will only help prevent the spread of the virus.
Note: This order does not include the Naugatuck Dog Park, Walking Trails, or the Hop Brook Golf Course.
—End—
Due to the unanticipated school closure, the school breakfast and lunch program will operate a meal service.
A bagged breakfast and a bagged lunch will be provided to take home for each child under 18 years regardless of school enrollment status. Children do not need to be present in order to collect the meals.
These eleven (11) sites will be open each weekday from 11 am - 1 pm as long as we are learning from home.
Naugatuck High School, City Hill Middle School, Cross Street Intermediate School, Salem Elementary School, Andrew Avenue Elementary School, Western Elementary School, Hop Brook Elementary School, Maple Hill Elementary School, Central Avenue Early Childhood Center, Southwood Garden Apartments, and Lantern Park Condominiums.
