Rest in Peace to Detective “Chip” Schofield, thank you for everything you did for our community and our school 💜

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of retired Detective Charles “Chip” Schofield. Detective Schofield served the department for 20 years, and shortly after his retirement in 2019, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Since then, Detective Schofield bravely fought a long and courageous battle, tackling his cancer head-on and displaying the same courage and determination that defined his commitment to the service of our community.

During his career with , Detective Schofield worked primarily with the youth in our community as a DARE Officer, School Resource Officer, an advisor with the department’s cadet/explorer post, and a detective in the department’s Youth Division. His passion and dedication to seeking justice for the most vulnerable among us was shown through his tireless efforts in investigating crimes against children.

Chip will forever be remembered for his compassion, empathy, and dedication to making our community a safer place for all. He was both a mentor and role model to so many in the Naugatuck community. His legacy will always live on in the hearts of those he positively impacted.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chip was most proud of his family. He was a devoted husband and father to his three daughters. When he wasn't working, he could be found on the softball field with his daughters. From coaching to long practices to traveling out of state, Chip was there without hesitation.

As we reflect on Detective Schofield's life, let us support his family, friends, and loved ones. May they draw strength from the lasting impact of his compassion and dedication to his family, friends, and the Naugatuck community. Chip would end each of his posts with the quote, "In this fight, I am NOT alone." He, indeed, was not alone and will now be missed by so many.

In memory of Detective Charles “Chip” Schofield

Class of 2011:
We hope you are all doing well over the past ten years! As you know this year has brought many challenges to our country as Covid-19 hit hard. Due to this, we will not be hosting our ten year reunion until next year as it is the safest and smartest option we have found. Finding a venue that can hold our class, travel restrictions, and cost have all led to this decision. We hope that as a class we can move forward to keeping our eye on next year to have the best time that we can in the safest environment possible. If anyone has any questions please direct them to Ryan Danby, to most of you formerly Corinne, acting as the new class President. We understand that this decision may upset some people and we encourage you all to host small things on your own (safely). We are all looking forward to working extremely hard to ensure that our class reunion is everything we’ve wanted and more! Thank you everyone and have a safe and happy week.
