Returning swimmers:

We are SO excited to officially unveil the brand-new Naugatuck Thunderfish registration website! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️✨

And our new STREAMLINED website should make registration quicker and easier than ever! (See what we did there?! 😉)

A HUGE thank you to Coach Scott, who has officially added IT Department to his swim coaching résumé! 😂💻 He is always bringing innovative ideas, creative design, and new ways to make things better for our swimmers and families. We think he knocked this one out of the natatorium! ❤️🖤🩶

And let’s be honest… it’s just CUTE! 😍

📧 Returning swimmers: Registration information has been sent out, so check your Spond and get signed up!

⏰ Please don’t delay! Early registration helps us determine how many open roster spots we will have available for our upcoming tryouts. The sooner we know who is returning, the better we can plan for our new swimmers!

We can’t wait for you to check it out! 🏊‍♀️💦

REMEMBER THIS? 👀

Those first practices of the season when everyone was figuring out their strokes, getting used to the walls again, and wondering how long a 50-yard freestyle could possibly feel…

And then suddenly:

BOOM. 💥

Best times.
New skills.
Big goals.
Championships.
Records.
Friendships.
Confidence.

That’s the magic of a swim season.

You don’t have to start out great.

You just have to show up and keep working.

And we’re getting ready to do it all over again. 🐟⚡

Fall 2026… here we come!
Let the countdown begin 💪

08/25/2026

📚🏊 BACK TO SCHOOL = BACK TO THE ROUTINE! 🏊📚

The first day of school is right around the corner, and while the alarm clocks, backpacks, homework, and early mornings might not be everyone’s favorite… there’s something our Thunderfish already know:

Routine matters. ⚡🐟

Think about swim practice.

You show up.
You follow the schedule.
You listen to your coach.
You work through the set—even when you don’t feel like it.
You hold yourself accountable.
You learn from mistakes.
You push through the hard parts.
And eventually… you see the results. 💪

Sound familiar? 👀

That’s one of the best things about swimming. The lessons learned in the pool don’t stay in the pool.

Swimming teaches athletes to:

⏰ Show up — even when you’d rather stay in bed.
🎯 Set goals — and work toward them one practice at a time.
💪 Be accountable — your effort belongs to YOU.
🧠 Stay disciplined — success doesn’t happen overnight.
🔄 Learn from mistakes — a bad race is feedback, not failure.
🤝 Work as a team — even though swimming can be an individual sport, nobody succeeds alone.
🏆 Celebrate progress — because dropping a second, learning a new skill, or simply not giving up is worth celebrating.

And just like swimming, school isn’t always going to be easy.

There will be days when the homework feels overwhelming. Days when a test doesn’t go the way you hoped. Days when you’re tired and would rather quit.

That’s when all those hours in the pool matter.

You’ve already learned how to show up when things are hard.

You’ve already learned that improvement takes time.

You’ve already learned that you don’t have to be the best—you just have to keep getting better.

So as our Thunderfish head back to school, remember:

The same discipline that makes you a stronger swimmer can make you a stronger student, teammate, friend, and person. 💙

🏊‍♀️ Show up. Work hard. Stay accountable. Trust the process.

And when things get tough…

Swim through it. ⚡🐟

Wishing all of our Thunderfish a fantastic school year! 📚💙

THE COACHES ARE STARTING TO GET NERVOUS… 👀

Because they know what’s coming.

The return of:

🏊 “Can we do starts today?”
🥽 “I can’t find my goggles!”
⏱️ “What was my time?”
💦 SPLASH
😂 Random pool deck chaos
🏆 New goals
💪 Hard practices
❤️ And some of the best moments of the season

The pool has been suspiciously quiet…

But not for much longer. 😈

Thunderfish, enjoy the rest of your summer.

The coaches are sharpening their stopwatches. ⏱️

FALL SEASON IS COMING. ⚡🐟

08/19/2026

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! ⏰🏊‍♀️

Summer isn’t over yet… but we’re starting to see something on the horizon.

FALL SWIM SEASON. 👀⚡

Soon the pool will be filled with:
🏊 Swimmers
🗣️ Coaches yelling
💦 Splashing
😂 Laughing
⏱️ Timers
🎯 Goals
💪 Hard work
🐟 And a whole lot of Thunderfish spirit!

Enjoy those last few weeks of summer, because before we know it…

CAPS ON. GOGGLES ON. LET’S SWIM! ⚡

Who else is getting excited?! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

08/15/2026

After months of yelling, “Streamline!” “Finish your stroke!” “ONE MORE!” and somehow always finding a way to make a 60-minute practice feel like 17 minutes…

THE COACHES HAVE 2 MONTHS OFF. 🎉

So what exactly do coaches do when they suddenly have their evenings back?

🎬 Coach Brandi: Currently accepting applications for activities to fill the 6–8 PM hour. Rumor has it she has forgotten what it’s like to NOT be checking a swim meet schedule, answering messages, or saying, “What time is practice?”

🧔 Coach Scott: Has been spotted enjoying the rarest luxury known to a swim coach… sitting down. He is reportedly considering making this a daily event.

🏊 Coach Joe: Claims he is going to use his free time to “relax.” We have yet to determine what that means, but we’re confident he’ll eventually find a way to turn it into a swim workout.

😎 Coach Tara: Finally has time for all the things she says she’s going to do during swim season. Whether any of those things actually happen before September remains under investigation.

😂 Coach Naim: Has discovered that evenings can, in fact, be spent doing things other than coaching swimming. He is currently enjoying this shocking new information.

And the coaches’ summer schedule includes:

☀️ Sleeping in
🍔 Eating dinner before 9 PM
📺 Watching TV without checking the clock
🧘 Attempting to relax
📱 NOT answering, “Coach, what time is practice?”
🏊 Trying very hard not to turn every body of water into a swim practice

But don’t worry… we’re already missing our favorite chaos. ❤️

Two months goes by fast, and before we know it, the pool will be filled with splashing, yelling, laughter, swim caps, goggles, kickboards, and the words:

“Okay guys… LAST ONE!”

(We all know it won’t actually be the last one. 😂)

⚡🐟 Thunderfish, we hope you’re enjoying your summer! We hope you’re swimming, relaxing, having adventures, and making memories.

And coaches… enjoy those quiet evenings while they last.

Because late September is coming. 👀

🏊‍♀️ SEE YOU BACK ON DECK SOON, THUNDERFISH! 🐟⚡

A record isn't just a number on a board. It's the story of countless difficult practices, unwavering determination, and the courage to chase what once seemed impossible. Every record honors the swimmer who set it—and every new record inspires the next generation to dream even bigger. Records are meant to be broken, not because the past is forgotten, but because it becomes the foundation for those who follow.

💥 Congratulations to our newest Thunderfish record holders! ⚡🐟

This season, Evan Castro, Ryan Waller, and Tyler Andrejko combined to break 5 team records, adding their names to a proud tradition of Thunderfish excellence.

🏊 **Evan** shattered the **1650 Freestyle** record with an incredible 22:28.00, breaking a mark that had stood since 2007, previously held by Trevor Heller.

🏊 **Ryan** set a new **1500 Freestyle** team record with a blazing 19:51.53, surpassing the previous record established by Gavin McKeon in 2019.

🏊 **Tyler** rewrote the record book with three new team records:
⚡ **50 Freestyle** – 22.79 (previously Adam Wakeley, 2012)
⚡ **100 Freestyle** – 50.89 (previously Matt Woodfield, 1997)
⚡ **100 Backstroke** – 1:00.19 (previously Matt Woodfield, 1997)

To the swimmers who held these records before—thank you for setting the standard. To Evan, Ryan, and Tyler—congratulations on raising it.

Here's to the next swimmer who looks at these times and dares to believe they can leave their own mark on Thunderfish history. ⚡💙

🏅DISTANCE. DETERMINATION. 3,000 YARDS OF AWESOME. 🏅

Most swimmers hear 500... 1000... 1500 and immediately start doing math. 😅

Our Thunderfish hear "Challenge accepted!" ⚡🐟

Each spring, our "Go the Distance Series" gives swimmers the opportunity to conquer three of swimming's toughest events—the 500, 1000, and 1500-yard freestyle. Complete all three, and you've officially gone 3,000 yards and earned your place in the *Thunderfish 3K Club!* (Plus, you get an exclusive 3K Club t-shirt to show off your accomplishment! 👕)

This isn't about sprinting. It's about perseverance, mental toughness, and proving that you can keep going long after your arms start asking, "Are we done yet?" 💪

🎉 Congratulations to our newest 2026 Thunderfish 3K Club members:

⚡ Lucy
⚡ Harold
⚡ Nathan
⚡ McKenna
⚡ Liam
⚡ Grace
⚡ Morgan
⚡ Nicholas
⚡ Ryan

You didn't just swim the distance—you owned it. Congratulations on an incredible accomplishment! 👏🐟💙

What a way to wrap up an incredible season! ⚡🐟

For our final practice, we brought the entire Thunderfish family together one last time. Swimmers raced head-to-head while showing off the technique, skills, and confidence they've built all season long. We even slowed things down for a social kick set, giving everyone a chance to chat with teammates and share their summer plans before receiving participation certificates to celebrate a season of hard work and growth.

We were also proud to recognize our newest members of the Thunderfish 3K Club—swimmers who completed the ultimate distance challenge by finishing our 500, 1000, and 1500 events this season. What an incredible accomplishment!

Finally, congratulations to our three record breakers, who combined to set five new team records this season! Your dedication and determination have earned you a place in Thunderfish history.

To every swimmer, parent, coach, and volunteer—thank you for making this season so special. We can't wait to see everyone back in the pool soon. Have an amazing summer! ⚡️🐟
