First-Time Attendee Tip: Packing for Katsucon. February in National Harbor can be pretty chilly outside, but inside the Ga***rd atrium, it stays warm, especially with large crowds.

A few quick essentials to throw in your bag:
• A comfortable pair of walking shoes (your feet will thank you by day two).
• A light layer or jacket you can easily drop off in your hotel room.
• A reusable water bottle and small snacks to keep in your prop bag or backpack.
• A portable phone charger.

Submissions for the Katsucon 2027 AMV Contests are officially open. If you have a passion for editing, we want to see your work on the big screen this February.

This year, we are accepting submissions across four distinct categories through November 30th:
• The AMV Showdown (PG-13): Our main event at Katsucon, screening both Friday and Saturday.
• Saturday Morning AMVs (PG): An all-ages, family-friendly block featuring new videos and age-appropriate entries.
• NSFW AMVs (18+): Our mature showcase for your most chaotic, risk-taking, or comedic adult edits.
• AMV Blender: A relaxed pre-show block for short clips (15 to 60 seconds), perfect for testing out new ideas.

If Katsucon 2027 is going to be your very first convention, or your first time visiting the Ga***rd National Resort, we're putting together a quick series of tips to help you navigate the weekend

Tip #1: The venue is beautiful, but it is incredibly large. Between the main atrium and the lower panel rooms, you'll be doing a lot of walking. We highly recommend checking out the venue map on Guidebook prior to Katsucon, wearing comfortable shoes, and remembering the basic 6-2-1 rule of con survival: get at least 6 hours of sleep, eat 2 real meals, and take 1 shower every day.
