87% of organizations were hit by an AI-driven cyberattack in the past year. Only about a quarter of security teams feel confident they could even detect one.
The workforce data tells an interesting story here. ISC2's latest study actually stopped reporting the "shortage of people" number that's dominated the cybersecurity conversation for years. The real bottleneck now is skills, especially AI security skills, which ISC2 ranked the #1 most needed technical skill in the field.
Our own Brad Smith, IT Certification Program Manager and instructor at CIAT, is featured in this HackerNoon piece on the rise of AI security as its own discipline. Brad is helping lead one of the first US bootcamp pathways built around CompTIA's new SecAI+ certification, and his take stands out because it goes beyond the fear headlines. He points to insider risk and "shadow AI" as the threat most organizations are underestimating, and makes the case that the real opportunity is training practitioners who can both defend AI systems and use AI to strengthen security operations.
