From Cody Braswell, Wayne’s husband.
Greetings Everyone,
I cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of love and support that has been given since Wayne's passing. It has been beyond what I could ever imagine. He would have been so honored that you all saw him as I did - loving, caring, devoted, intelligent, creative, passionate... He was an amazing human being and I was truly lucky to have him as my partner in life.
After 28 eight years together this month, it's virtually impossible for me to imagine my life without him. I am still processing, still trying to accept, still trying to really understand what has happened. As you all have said - I'm taking it one day at a time. Thank you for your understanding and my apologies for not being able reply or acknowledge all of your comments and messages - they did not go unnoticed.
As Dorian mentioned previously, Wayne requested to be cremated. He also requested a "big-ass" party and, as he loved this city so much, he wanted a classic New Orleans second line parade. All of which have now been confirmed.
We will host a Celebration of Wayne's Life here at home the afternoon/evening of Saturday, July 30, 2022.
The second line parade - complete with a jazz band, horse drawn hearse and a police es**rt - will take place in the French Quarter at 1030AM on Wayne's birthday, Sunday, July 31, 2022.
For those of you unfamiliar with a second line - everyone walks in the parade through the French Quarter - the music begins slow and somber and as the parade progresses, it builds to a celebration towards the end of the route.
We will be setting up an event page with all of the details soon but I wanted to get this out so everyone would know and can plan accordingly if you are able to attend.
Also as a final note, in lieu of flowers, etc., we are looking to set up a fundraiser/donation drive - we will provide those details in the event invitation.
All my love,
Cody
