There’s something SO freeing about getting the Sunday setlist on Saturday…and not panicking. 💛🎹

Nothing happened to give me more hours in the day. I was still running errands. Still making dinner. Still doing normal Saturday mom life.

I’ve just learned how to listen for what matters, use the little pockets of time I have, and know what to play before I sit down to practice. And THAT changes Sunday.

So if you’re still spending hours trying to learn every little part or wondering if you’ll ever be able to hear a song and know what to play… KEEP GOING.

One skill can change the way you play for church! 💛🎹

Sunday isn’t always going to go the way you practiced it. 😊🙏🏽

😭 The worship leader change keys.
😭 Start singing a song you haven’t played in months.
😭Take worship somewhere you weren’t expecting.

And here’s where most musicians get stuck... 👀

You practice what you’re already comfortable playing.

❌ The same chords.
❌The same keys.
❌The same fills.
❌The same songs.

It feels good because you sound good while you’re practicing...

But you freeze when the spirit breaks out…

If you want to be the musician who can follow when worship changes, you have to practice doing things you can’t do yet.

🎹 Play the song in another key.
🎹 Try figuring it out without the chord chart.
🎹 Learn a fill that feels awkward.
🎹 Practice finding the numbers by ear.
🎹 Turn on a worship song you’ve never played and see how much you can figure out.

Will you mess up? YEP. 😂

That’s kind of the point.

If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not learning anything new!

And eventually, the thing that used to make you nervous...becomes something you don’t even have to think about anymore.

That’s how your comfort zone gets bigger.👏🏽

You don’t become confident in spontaneous worship by waiting until you *feel* confident.

You build the skills beforehand so when the Spirit flows, you can flow with it! 🙌🏽
