Good afternoon, Cumberland Bear Families!

We want to make you aware that today, the air conditioning units serving the upstairs portion of our building have been working intermittently. To ensure the comfort and well-being of our scholars and staff, students were relocated to cooled areas of the building while district maintenance teams and contractors worked to address the issue.

As an additional measure, portable air conditioning units are being installed to ensure that all of our Cumberland Bear scholars and teachers remain comfortable and ready to teach and learn while repairs continue.

We appreciate the quick response of our district teams and the flexibility of our students and staff. Thank you, Cumberland families, for your continued patience, partnership, and support.

Summer Meals Are Available and we want to make sure our scholars have access to nutritious meals all summer long! MNPS is offering meal boxes for eligible students. Each meal box includes 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches. The pick-up location is at Hunters Lane High School on the following distribution dates: June 1, June 15th, June 29th, and July 13th from 1:00pm – 2:30pm.

Thank you to all of our Cumberland families who joined us this morning to celebrate our Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony! Your love, support, and partnership have helped make this a successful year of learning, growth, and achievement for our youngest scholars.

We are so proud of our kindergarteners and all they have accomplished this year. As they begin their summer break, we wish each of them a fun, safe, and memorable summer filled with adventure, reading, and family time. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish in first grade! Today we celebrated our Kindergarten–2nd Grade scholars for their outstanding academic growth this semester with our Read and Ride program!

Through consistent reading habits in Beanstack, our young scholars strengthened their literacy skills and showed incredible progress in the classroom. We are proud of the dedication, hard work, and love for reading they demonstrated all year long! Our top readers in each grade level were recognized with brand-new bikes, gift cards, and medals, and the classes showing the most growth on FAST Reading earned a well-deserved pizza party!

A special thank you to Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge and G-Men of Nashville for your continued partnership and commitment to increasing early literacy outcomes for our scholars. Your support is making a lasting impact in our community!
