Eat Sleep Rock Nashville

in Nashville rock n’ roll history David Bowie played Nashville Municipal Auditorium as part of his Isolar II World Tour (also known as the “Heroes” or Stage tour). It was the 11th date of the tour and marked one of his key performances in the city—his final Nashville show, according to some accounts. The set included tracks like “Warszawa,” ““Heroes”,” “What in the World,” “Be My Wife,” and “The Jean Genie.” Attendance was around 7,000–9,000, and bootleg recordings of the concert have circulated among fans.

On this day in rock history, December 6, 1969, the Rolling Stones held their infamous free concert at the Altamont Speedway in California. The event, intended as a “Woodstock West,” tragically ended in violence, including the stabbing death of a fan by a member of the Hell’s Angels, who had been hired as security. This incident is often cited as the end of the 1960s’ era of peace and love. #1969
