SCORE is honored to be featured in a new profile from the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) examining our role in helping Tennessee navigate one of education's most significant emerging priorities: responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms and schools.
The profile, "From Exploration to Coherence: How SCORE Is Helping Tennessee Make Sense of AI in Schools," reflects a familiar approach for SCORE: build trust and expertise over time, then apply it to emerging priorities. For over a decade, that's meant literacy, instructional quality, and career-connected learning, among other issues. Today, that includes AI. Our work has included:
🤝 Convening cross-sector leaders across K-12, higher education, and industry to help the state navigate AI before clear models or consensus exist
🔍 Vetting emerging ed tech providers so districts can make more informed decisions in a rapidly evolving marketplace
📚 Co-funding pilots, including an expanded Coursemojo cohort now reaching seven districts and more than 4,000 students
🚀 Launching a $450,000 AI Innovation Fund to support nine educator-led pilots grounded in real challenges of practice
đź“‹ Translating implementation lessons from Tennessee classrooms into state-level strategy, including recommendations to the state's AI Advisory Council and to the State Board of Education's ELA standards review committee
As CRPE notes, no single organization can guide statewide AI adoption alone. We share that view. Sustained progress will depend on continued partnership between educators, policymakers, and partners.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve as one of Tennessee's trusted partners in that effort, and we remain committed to helping ensure AI strengthens, rather than distracts from, the state's broader commitment to student outcomes.
