🐊 Houses & LiveSchool: What You Need to Know! 🐊

This Friday, Sept 4 is our next House Meeting! Quick rundown on Houses and LiveSchool:

HOUSES: Swamp (green), River (blue), Marsh (orange), Lake (yellow). Once assigned, students stay in their house for their time at Gower. Students earn points (called "Merits" in the app) for GATOR expectations and this month's Leadership Trait (Purposeful).

WHAT POINTS MEAN: More points = more purchases at the school store. Check the Activity tab in the app to see exactly why your student earned or spent points!

REDEEMING POINTS: The school store opens periodically, check the app for the current window. Rewards go to teachers to hand out.

STANDINGS: House points are now visible in the Parent Portal! 🎉 Each month, the top 3 point earners in each house are celebrated at House Meetings, and at the end of each quarter, the house with the most points earns a house party!

GATOR CHECKS: Labeled "Demerits" in the app, these are just reminders when a student needs to reset, they don't affect points or house totals. More on this in its own post soon!

🍔 Tomorrow's dinner plans are set! McTeacher's Night is Thursday, August 27, 4:30-7:30 PM at the McDonald's on Hwy 70!

Skip the cooking, grab the family, and watch your favorite Gower teachers work the drive-thru. Keep an eye out for the pie squad walking around with trays of apple pies (inside and at the drive-thru!), donate whatever you'd like, cash only, and 100% goes straight to Gower PTO!

Psst... there may even be a special guest appearance. 👀

Spirit Day this Friday in loving memory of Dolly Parton.

Wear pink, glitter, or any country‑inspired outfit to celebrate her legacy.

Dolly’s joy, kindness, and commitment to children have touched our Gower community in countless ways. This Friday, we’re honoring her big heart and even bigger inspiration by filling our halls with color, creativity, and spirit.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the magic, and the belief you instilled in every child.

📸 Picture Day is TOMORROW, Wednesday, August 26! 📸

Tonight's the night to lay out an outfit (and maybe braid hair or set aside that bow) so tomorrow morning is one less thing to think about.

Haven't ordered pictures yet? You can still order online through Inter-State Studio, just a heads up that ordering after Picture Day may add shipping and handling fees.

MNPS Graduate Gives Back at Gower!

This summer MNPS graduate Anna Cook partnered with her former school, Gower Elementary, to collaborate on a mural project for the school's library. The mural made its way to the library to be displayed in the Makers Space area.

The mural combines the ideas of this collaborative space, a space for students to design, create and inspire.
This fall, Anna Cook heads to SCAD, Savannah College for Art and Design, to pursue a degree in Fashion Marketing. Gower Elementary appreciates her time and willingness to give back to the MNPS community!
